Cowen's NHB EP3 Premier Edition - 'Black Stealth' - Final Update

Hey guys, So I have a day off work and so thought I should edit this post and write a proper intro about myself and my new CTR :)

My name is Grant and its nice to meet you guys.

My Honda story started out when I purchased a 1993 Honda Civic EG6 as my first car and absolutely loved it. The speed and the noise of VTEC just made me smile every time.
So once I sold that one I decided why not get a second 1992 Civic EG6 but this one was standard and I would create my own project and put my own personal touch on it.

This car after 3 years finally had to be stripped apart and sold off and my Honda story was out on hold for 4 years.
Due to taking a new career option and medical reasons, a new car was never an option.

UNTIL NOW!! :D

After saving some cash I was in the position to buy myself a new car and what better than a Civic Type-R :)

I had been looking on auto-trader and pistonheads for months when this car came up for sale.
Its an early 2006 NightHawk Black EP3 Premier Edition.
It had 91,000 on the clock but was absolutely clean inside and out so was purchased and the price of £4,700.

Now I am one happy guy with plans for it already in my head :D

First I got myself a Tegiwa M Induction Kit:

Cant wait to get this installed. Going to modify my own scuttle panel.

Second was some new bolts to dress up the engine bay (along with some socks that Tegiwa sent free):

These red nuts and washers will go great with the new K20 Rocker Cover I have ordered from Paul at Spooner Restorations :)

Finally is some Red Aluminium Wheel Nuts:

They are to go with these :

Though the wheels will remain a secret right now as I am waiting for 2 to be delivered still :)

Thats the first lot of bits purchased. Just need some suspension components and an exhaust which I already know which I want :)
Thanks for looking :)

Clean and Detailing to give it back some shine!!

So with the nice weather now coming back, I decided it was time to give the car a proper clean and detailing that it deserves..... Give the colour that pop and shine again :)

So after speaking to a friend who does car valeting on some VERY expensive cars, we agreed to give the EP3 a proper clean and then a stage 1 machine polish to give it back some life.

Here are some before, during and after pictures:

After degreasing the engine bay and wheels, first we used some snowfoam to clean off all the loose crap and grime before cleaning it again with a soft wash glove and shampoo (this is where i learnt about a 2 bucket method lol)

1509240_10152081631348983_839998658_n.jpg

After drying the car we then used clay over every panel so remove all the tar and stuck on crack to really get the surfaces clean.
And the car looked amazing from afar, but up close you could still see the spider webs.

So one drying the car off he got out the machine polisher and set to work giving the car the shine it deserves and the difference was just amazing!!

(Excuse my fat self, but that is my reflection in the bonnet)

With all the panels complete and looking 100x better, he then applied a glaze for some extra shine before using a soft wax to seal it all and keep it looking good for at least a few months.

I cant thank the guy enough for the work he did as it just looks so much better.
It has highlighted one of two small areas that could do with a touch up from stone chips etc, but overall the bodywork is in great condition and looks as it should :)

Thanks for reading. I know its a boring topic but Im just so happy with the outcome :)

SAD TIMES!!

So after getting the car detailed and having it look spot on, the next day I decided to go out for a drive down some country roads to enjoy what the EP3 is all about.
When on the way home this happened!!

STUPID F***ING PHEASANT DECIDED TO COMMIT SUICIDE!!!

Absolutely raging was an understatement at the time.

So now I need a new headlight to replace this one and get the car looking good again.
Hopefully will get one sorted and fitted at the same time as my other new parts which are on order :)

I hit a hare at 50mph the other day, made a right mess, but no damage at all to the car, i was amazed.

Looks a nice detailing job mate, shame about the headlight, thats bad luck fella.

Headlight fixed and More Parts :D

Hello Boys and Girls......

So an update to my EP3 :)

After the little incident with the smashed headlight, I searched around and found myself a replacement headlight to get the car back to its great self.
Didnt take long to install and everything lined up perfectly so didnt need to make any adjustments to the lighting which was a bonus :)

10015161_10152089919998983_1606993718_n.jpg

While I was doing the work on the headlight, I got round to finish the fitting of the scoop on the scuttle panel for the Tegiwa M intake.
Got to say it looks a treat and sounds absolutely awesome :D

I then decided to go on a little spending spree :D

These arrived today:

Finally I have all 4 wheels and will be getting them fitted asap.
I went for these:

1554422_10152127485338983_5767082584235668819_n.jpg

Rota Grid Drift in 17" ET25 9J and Flat Black.
They will look amazing on the car and give it a kind of "black stealth" look that I am going for :) lol

Then a load of other parts arrived from Tegiwa:

10154251_10152127485538983_504006869519231208_n.jpg

I got the Eibach Pro Kit for a 30mm drop, Front and Rear JDM ARB's (though I have been informed I dont actually need to change the front) and some Carbon Fibre Covers with Anodized Red Screws.
The Carbon Fibre and Red Screws will really clean up the engine bay and work well with the new painted rocker cover I have Paul at Spooner Restorations doing for me :)

The whole theme of the car is going to be black with red accents :)

I also have some Eibach Camber Adjusters ordered with TDi North ready for when I have my FRSU done in a couple of weeks :)

Cant wait to get everything fitted on the car :D
