CTR EP3 w/ Rotrex Supercharger...

Anyone know approximately how much difference this would make to my current insurance w/ Elephant of around £500 FC? I'm guessing probably at least treble...

Any more informed opinions out there?

When I rotrex'ed my EP3 the insurance increased by only about £200. And to make sure I was covered I told them the car was doing 400bhp  Better safe than sorry ;)

That was with Greenflag as far as I remember.

Wow...surprised, but will look into it ;) Oh, and a mate at work mentioned getting any tuning/mods done by a local (to me) co. in Guildford...he has had some work done on his Evo (spit  ) there....thinking maybe he meant Artech ;)

Will speak to Elephant in the morning, and then maybe Greenflag, depending on what the Elephant says....

Cheers for the response.

Elephant will replace your mods for OEM pieces if you have a prang. Just worth considering before going with these guys. :?:

Just spoken to Elephant...

..."A what?...."

"A supercharger..."

"Is that like a Turbo?"

"Sort of...not really..."

"OK, Mr X, if you could just hold the line for one moment"

5 minutes later...

"Mr x? No, I'm afraid we wouldn't insure that"

So that's that. Anyway, I think I should go for some more moderate, reasonable mods for the time being, such as CAI, Chip/remap and Manifold/exhaust, shocks/dampers and the like.

Although irritatingly it's not going to be enough to wipe the smug grin of my Evo owning mates face. :/

;)

lol @ the Elephant call :D

Its the same company I know, but I'm with Bell (Elephant, Sheila's Wheels, Bell, Admiral etc etc). I've done speculative quotes with them as well and they won't entertain a SC.

However on my last call to them they are starting to insure mods from April. i.e. you get back what you've got on in a claim. They do however want more money for the privilege...

You'd be better to try and get an agreed valuation. Therefore you get the full value of the mods back if your car gets written off and you can specify like for like on repairs. :p

Not sure of any individual companies but someone like Adrian Flux or Sky (there's another thread on here for them - http://type-r-owners.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=44298) might be in the right area.

And that is why you should always choose a modified car insurance specialist :p
