FN2 Dealership have put the wrong oil in

Hi , I brought an fn2 last year from a certain dealership . I had an absolute nightmare with them regarding warranty work. They put non genuine parts on the car including fly wheel ect.....also they told me work had been done but clearly hadn't . Eventually I got it all sorted through honda UK .

My first free service was due in june, I reluctantly booked it in and they did the work but now Ive found out theyve put 0w20 type 2.0 in the car .
They are saying this is ok . Three other dealerships ive rang and a type r specialist are saying they would not recommend it , also honda uk don't recommend it . Any thoughts on this oil ? thanks

That's the oil for the new turbo Type R.

Get it changed out asap, it will do an FN2 no good at all.

Christ I would steer well clear from them, I had a dealer use Peugeot branded oil in mine (joint dealership) I randomly thought about it yesterday (4yrs late) I realised I paid for a Honda service & wasn't given Honda products crafty feckers

Update > Honda UK have been in touch with dealership and dealership are saying its 5w 30 in my car . the guy on the service desk and the mechanic gave me wrong information . Bare in mind they sold me a 1 liter 0w20 top up on Tuesday which caused me to question the oil in the first place .

Honda UK have give me the option to have the oil tested or get the dealership to change the oil ..

Thanks

Seems madness to me that anyone with a performance car wouldn't do their own oil changes. Why trust someone on minimum wage with your pride and joy's engine?

Such a broad statement to make. Not everyone has the ability or tools required to do it themselves.

Get it changed for piece of mind.

Hardly a performance engine is it really? It was a heavily mass produced engine.
Also judging people working in a dealer as low paid and dumb? These people work on probably the most technically advanced machinery that the general public can get their hands on.

I agree with you in regards to the dealers should be the most knowledgeable about the cars, but you can't say an engine with 100bhp per litre NA isn't a performance engine.

Not really. For a manufacture to make an N/A engine producing 100bhp per litre isn't difficult. Making it meet all the regulations of emissions and being user friendly is the hard part. Majority just went for the turbo route as it's easier. Honda chose to engineer N/A. No doubt the K20 is a well engineered engine, but in the world of combustion engines it's far from a performance engine. Not when you consider in the 80's turbo era they had 1.5 litre engines kicking out well over 1,000bhp.

No no, hold up. So a Clio 182 isn't a performance car from the noughties? Just like a CTR isn't a performance car is it? A Mk2 Focus ST with 225 bhp from a 2.5 litre isn't?

Talking of 1.5 engines running 1000 bhp is comical. They sure as shiz wern't road engines. Which if it is the case that you are confusing a performance engine with a race engine, then yeah you gave a point.

You'll never convince me the K20a2 or a K20A isn't a performance engine.

In its class of hot hatches then yes I suppose you could class it as a performance hatch. End of the day it's still a mass produced engine that costs pennies to build.
My point was 20+ year old technology was making small sized engines produce silly amounts of power. At that time you could buy a car making 100bhp per litre (E30 M3). 20 years on someone managed to produce a N/A engine making 100bhp per litre is something special?
The K20 is well engineered with good reliability. It's power output 20 years ago would of turned heads. Today's standards it's nothing amazing.

It's a 15 year old engine, keep up fella... and you're comparing it to BMW's halo car of the time.

I really don't get your point. Yes it's mass produced. That doesn't mean it isn't a performance engine.

I typed up several responses but i really dont want to get involved.

Buuut.. K20a2 is quite clearly a performance engine.

what is it then? eco engine?
