hi there

most likely been asked alot but i cant seem to find and exact answer as yet so thought i would ask before wasting money ;)


ep3 type R with full stock exhaust,i am looking for a nicer note from the cars exhaust but DONT want to lose the stock exhaust back box.

is adding say just a mid-pipe gonna help me achieve this ???

i have an eye on a full scorpion system but really cant be arsed with the racket on a daily driver :D
 
Simple answer is yes, there are B pipes which will go onto the OE backbox
 
Yep, another vote for the unsilenced mid pipe, keep the standard backbox.

I have this too, great combination as I wanted a better exhaust note and to keep the stock look, like you. Cheap and cheerful mod!
 
Technically it should be better, reality is probably worse due to added incentive to put your foot down :lol:

I have a spoon bpipe with oem backbox and it isn't loud at all. bit raspy when I put the foot down though.

I had it on the dyno with standard bpipe and standard backbox made 230bhp obv with other mods cams cai manifold and rbc then when I added spoon bpipe I got 245.5bhp.

A friend had the OEM box with unsilenced centre and it sounded great. Nice and raspy when you plant the loud peddle. I'd go for that If I was starting again.
 
I also have standard back box and unsilenced mid pipe and it sounds great. Not too loud but nice and raspy/sporty when you boot it. Gets better as it gets more coked up.

Planning on getting a 4-2-1 manifold also so I hope this does not make it too much louder.
