EP3 rally car

My mate has been at me for a while to get in to rallying and I have had a mad notion to start work on an EP3. I have had an offer of a shell without engine but with everything else except interior. In my head the car is more suited to track use. Anyone have an opinion?

I've seen rally EP3's. According to a mate who does them, they are a good, common car to go for in Rallying.

Excellent news guys. Boss has just took me in before I left work. We are down on budget for 1st half of year, head office are taking "measures" in the next few weeks, looks like someone leaving or another pay cut. No pay rise in three years, not even discussed last year and a 6% cut. May get that idea out of my head, I know my position is safe but never know what's around the corner :(

The private sector sucks atm in the building game

there was two on piston heads the other month for about 14k each with pro flex the lot which i thought were cheap

i didnt think people would rally front wheel drive cars i always imagine rally cars like scoobys and evos, but then why not fwd? that ep3 above looks good i think!

The British Rally Championship is going all FWD for 2012.

That was one of my cars above.

EP3 make fantastic rally cars. Look at Kasper Koitla for evidence:

Went to a rally meet the other day no civic's but one old guy made me laugh he had an old mk2 escort on webbers and he was destroying all the weekend warriors in brand new evo's and sti's, that man had some skills.

Honda have just applied to have the homologation on the EP3 extended by 2 years. This has been granted by the FIA. This me ands that they can continue to be competitive in class in all forms of rallying until the end of 2014.

Great car, but not very competitive in the 2 litre class against the Escorts and the like from what I've seen in tarmac rallying.

I absolutely agree with you Lukeydoo.

However, I think that it is important to point out that the engines in these Escort that you speak of cost more than a complete EP3 rally car (not to mention the cost of keeping an Escort in tyres!).

The Group N EP3s are competing in what used to be called 'showroom' class and are very competitive FWD cars - many events split FWD and RWD.

It is a testament to Honda technology that these 10 year old cars are still competitive in modern class!

And this one can beat the modern 4wd cars!
