FAO J's Racing Engine Bay Strut Brace Owners With Air-Con

Messages

This is primarily directed at people with Air-Con and the J's strut brace;

I guess some people have had their strut brace fitted for some time now, and I am wondering if anyone has had any issues with how the Air-Con pipe sits through the strut mount and pushes up against the rocker cover of the engine, or where the pipe gets 'pinched' slightly where the bar mounts the bracket, as in the pics below (courtesy of Badboy)

Has anyone found any adverse affects on the Air-Con system, or found any wear and tear on the pipe where its pinched and sits against the rocker cover.

I am looking to order one this week, so any help and info would be greatly appreciated.

Also, when fitting, is there any tricky bits?? I fitted a strut brace to my last car ok, but the Air_Con pipe concerns me a bit, do you have to 'bend' it much?? Also how tight did you do the suspension strut top nuts back up?? As I dont want to overtighten them and cross the thread.

Cheers. :)

Here's my post with my car about exactly the same thing...

I showed Guy @ CPL racing this because I was concerned after fitting mine, Its been on for 3 (maybe 4 weeks) now and I've had no problems so far 8)

He did suggest covering the a/c pipe as the head is actually quite abrasive under load, I do have uprated engine mounts and a torque damper so my engine doesn't move a great deal. I haven't got around to covering it yet (The ETD went on after the pics).

Cheers for the info - thats very helpful. :)

Right, I have been watching my A/C pipe start to wear so I have done this to help stop it

I know eventually this will wear away but its a tad cheaper than a new pipe :D

I just cable tied mines to mount, very tightly away from the engine.

Have you got any pictures of this, I'm thinking about ditching mine for an alternative because its rubbing really badly :(
