FN2 Type R 2 year 25k Service

Yep £310 all in, can't complain........much! I'm def not handy with mechanical stuff! Best I leave it to the "professionals", they know what they're doing(!) Haha!
Just noticed our cars are twins........ both 58 plates in milano red with a GP front skirt & with similar miles.

Hahahaha i would, but being the car is still under warranty i thought it best to let the garage do it in order my actual warranty stays in tact! :)

They are indeed bud.........but jelous as i see you have the 19" Rage's..... :p

Would not be taking my FN2 to a stealer who does not even know the proper service schedule of my car.
Find a new stealer before they ar*e it up and do some damage.

I did think that..............but in the past, this dealer just hasn't put a foot wrong since i've owner the R and for the 4 years my mum has had her Jazz............until, that is, they change franchise about 6 months ago. This is the first time i've had to deal with them since then.........

Absolutely agree with finding a new dealer mate.............but as i'd already had my "service" done there (minus the valve clearance check of course ) I had to take it back there in order that i don't pay out any more. Another dealer would charge for the job..........and didn't want the hassle this time around of having to try and claim money back from them.

I'll see how it goes next Tuesday. Fingers crossed! :(

You dont need to go to a dealer to keep your warranty, as long as Hondas parts are used.

Try TGM next time, it wont hurt your wallet as much and Tom and the team know Hondas inside out.

Valve Clearances done!!! Took it back to dealer.........as i had already paid for it.

My dad has being saying for a while that there are 1 or 2 noisey tappets........and now he said it sounds perfect. He knows....used to be sh** hot at diagnosing and adjusting them years ago!!!

Over the moon now. Had a brand new Mazda MX5 2.0L Sport courtesey car to drive home Monday night and to work Tuesday morning too! Fun................with BOSE sound system, heated leather seats..........but was no way as engaging to drive as my R!
Really made me appreciate just how good the Civic is..................in my opionion anyway! :D

Hi guys and girls, I'm a newbie on this site but was interested to read about the issue with the 2yr/25k service. It got me looking through the details of my 2yr service and lo and behold no valve clearance check!! so I gave my local Honda dealer a call and explained the mistake, he agreed and the car is in on tuesday for no charge !! great success

Good news bud. The internet at it's most valuable! ;)

It is shocking how dealers can't follow their own service schedules yet still like charging for work not done...

Well. I just had a rather unpleasent exchange with the service department at honda Reading. Their attitude was absolutly appauling. Needless to say we walked out and will not be using them. Ever.

Yesterday my GF was quoted £360 quid for a 2nd year inspection. Car only has 14k on it. i thought this was a bit high so posted on here. Following advice we decided to pop into honda and question the price in the morning, expecting to come to an agreement as we didnt need the valve clearences checked.

As soon as i politly said i had question abuot the price, the blokes attitude became completley unacceptable as if i had insulted his mother. They persisted to be frankly offensive, uninformative despite me giving the information and attempted to charge us for something we were not going to get. Me not paying for something we were not going to get seemed totally alien to this guy and he proceeded to try and rip us off.

It got a little heated, but fortunatley one of his collegues stepped in and offered us £50 off (i rekon more like £100 needed). However i had pretty much decided these people were not of sufficient quality to handle her Type R and so we shall be seeking a honda specialist in berkshire. If anyone can recommend one (the one of fleet perhaps?)

However, if we handt question it, my GF would have dropped her car off and been charged almost £400 quid, with them having no intention of having the valve clearences checked. To me this is called being ripped off.

Thanks for the advice guys, and good to get this off my chest.

Fair play to you!

I think it is probably due to money being tight and people using back street garages that some dealers are starting to use these practices. It's a shame because Honda dealers are usually very good.

TGM are based in Fleet and have a cracking reputation. :smt023

Spoke to Ascot Honda who are the same company basically. And they immediatly identified with what i was requesting and said £250. which is what i was expecting from reading (but got a mouthful instead.)

However i also spoke to TGM, they seem most knowledeble and so im happy for them to do the work. Booked in for monday.
