Garry's 251.1bhp 181.6lbft Cosmic ep3 - kpro, rota, BBK, skunk intake

Got the gearbox off two weeks ago and noticed two of my engine mounts were knackered so I have to order some more, they came this week

got a full billet set of innovative mounts and the additional front mount which you don't get in the kit, unfortunately they don't sell this in billet aluminium but you can't see it anyway so I'm not to bothered. I went for the 95A stiffness which is the hardest they do. Race mounts are 85A so I'm looking forward to how these feel.

Here's the car currently with stage 3 RPC clutch mounted

Spent a little time on the car over the weekend. Now got the gearbox on, and mounts. Also got the subframe all cleaned painted and assembled ready to go in.

next steps, change engine oil & filter before everything goes in so I don't get oil over cleaned parts. Fit silicone lover coolant hose now it's accessible. Then get the car back together and start the progress rear arb

Thanks for the feedback ^^^

pointless mod which I forgot about

heres a pic of knackered clutch plate

done some more work on the car, done oil filter & changed lower coolant hose. Got the subframe back on and all mounts etc are now in, was a pain to get the mounts all aligned with them being so stiff but managed to figure out a sequence to tightening all bolts which worked. fitted new arb drop links while I was there and all covers back on underneath with new fixings. All I need to do now is get it on four wheels and put engine oil, gearbox oil & coolant in while its level. Then I can do the wring, battery, airbox, linkages etc

Pics as it sits wth suspension all back together

also had a feel of clutch pedal and seems like there is very little window between on & off which is to be expected from a stage 3 clutch. I hope it's not really tough to pull away in traffic now

HELP

Small Update, car is now back together and just tried to start it and it turns over but will not fire at all. I am not getting the key light illuminating on the dash at all and I'm not sure if this is normal or it means my keys have lost their code as the car has been in bits for ages

can anyone shed any light please, little concerned here?

Got the car running again, happy days. Turns out there was two things wrong. To cut a long story short I accidentally pulled on the 1st lambda sensor when taking the box out and repaired it by putting the wires in the correct way based on the new geniune one I bought. Thing is two of the wires are white so I must of got it wrong and there's no way of knowing. A knock on effect of this was a fuse blew for the ignition. So now I've fitted the genuine lambda sensor which I was hoping it didn't need as it was £200! I've also robbed another 15A fuse for the headlights to get it running and bled coolant etc. Here's how it stands

next steps are to fit rear progress 24mm arb then get all four corners tracked up for camber, toe etc. Plus get corner weighted again

then i will give it a damn good clean and get some miles on it to bed the clutch in

Update, progress 24mm arb fitted

now for the bad news, the arb does not fit in conjunction with the tdi north 3inch back box, I have bought a 3inch skunk box and new flange & fixings etc. Car is booked into an exhaust fabricator next week to have fitted to my car. The silencer is a lot bigger than the megapower tail box so I'm hoping it's not much louder than it was before

hopefully soon I will be using it again .....

Heres as it stands now with no backbox after a good clean

i also got another daily drive two weeks ago, next to the civic

I'm loving your work .... and of course you might have inspired me to go and do a little shopping myself ...... :D

Thanks for all the feedback!

small update

tailpipe is getting fitted next week, based on the poll thread I will be having it straight out instead of angled.

also when I had the wheels off I noticed the condition of my rear tyre had got very hot from oulton park, I have driven on the road 200miles since the track day. looks like next time I will need to keep an eye out for them and maybe play with pressures etc

Update, cars now has 3inch exhaust fitted with all stainless fittings etc. Work carried out is second to none from The guys who did the work, looks almost too good to have under the car. I will be hoping to back there in the summer to get some more exhaust fabrication carried out

small bit of miscommunication in the I forgot to ask them to have a straight exit , anyway I like it now so happy days. It is only a small angle so not too much like some I've seen

with regards to the driving I'm impressed with how quiet the exhaust still is, of course it a little louder than the tdi north back box but nothing like my old megapower r, considering this is a larger bore than the megapower r.

next plans are to use it.....

as as for the exhaust I plan to have the tdi north back box modified for interchangeability so it can be bolted on again for clearance around the progress arb. Also the tdi north back box starts at 2.75 inch and tapers to 3inch at the start, I intend on having this all at 3 inch and while I'm at it having the race manifold reworked so it can efficiently output 3inch. I will then have a true 3inch system and then I can get it mapped to see what happens

It's been a while since I've been on here.. Holy **** that thing is looking mental. I need to get a look at this thing again...

Don't suppose you have a big box of everything you've taken off? Send them over...

thanks man, yeah it's getting there slowly. Things aren't progressing as much as before these days now I have another baby due in a month.

Yes I do, all parts I took off are safe in the boxes which the new parts came in, so it's possible to put it back to standard, although that would take an age

Some more pics of the car, here's the exhaust fabrication which I'm happy with

Read from start to finish, Great thread, car and dedication! You need some better tyres for track rather than those rubbish PS2's!
