Getting my coilovers + geometry checked tomorrow

Basically going for a geometry check and to back off the camber, along with an inspection of the D2's to see how they are after 12000 miles and a years use.

It would be nice to go to TGM however Tom's a bit far from me so I'm going to a place that's just 5 mins up the road from me. I've heard nothing but gleaming reports about the place and I'm looking forward to going in the morning.

Chris (the guy doing the work) is also adjusting the ride height and wants just over half a tank and me sat in the car when he does it. He also mentioned corner weighting and said that it's not essential though he can do it if I wish. Going to give that a miss as I don't do enough track work to justify it.

He's also checking all of my wheels to make sure that they are all fine and not out of shape etc. They also offer an on site service at track days if anyone is interested.

As for settings, I'll keep the toe how it is (2mm) and bring the camber down to about -1.2 deg for the winter months and will prob keep it at that. Won't be able to update till Monday as I'm off for the weekend but I think it will all be good!

I've heard great things about them as well Chris, the S2k guys seem to rave about them. Will be good to see what you reckon:cool:

He is very highly spoke of on s2ki. His equipment can read geo to slightly more accuracy than TGM's.

I dont think you will be disappointed.

Indeed mate, I wouldn't let any old monkey touch my car so I did a lot of research into it and also spent the best part of an hour on the phone to Chris. He's a top bloke and really knows his stuff. Best thing is that he's 5 mins away like I said, Tom is about 120 miles away

Well it's all been done and the car is transformed. Went for -1.2 deg all round with total toe of 2mm (the normal for the fast road setup).

We were going to raise the car slightly however the top C screw on the D2's were seized and they wouldn't budge. Only way to now adjust the height would be to take the coilovers off and then get them loose, so I'll be letting D2 know that tomorrow.

Went to adjust the rear camber and the SPC bolts had seized so they had to come off, heated up, loosened, copper greased and put back on. Once this was out of the way we set the car up. The camber and toe settings were all over the shop on the rear explaining the very twitchy back end of the car recently. The front was spot on but obviously the camber was backed off.

Once the car was setup we went for a test drive and it's so much more planted and turn in is now brilliant. Only thing that was bad was the front dampners needed softening up however we couldn't do this because the adjusters wouldn't sit right and when we got them in we couldn't turn them, so once again I'll let D2 know about this. Not good considering they are only 12 months old.

Overall I couldn't recommend Center Gravity enough, Chris is superb and he really has a passion for his job.

I looked into Centre Gravity as I had heard good reports about the work that they do too. I just did not end up going there as I thought they were too specialist for what I wanted doing (basic fast-road setup and alignment).

I ended up going to Nottingham Car4Wheel Alignment in Basford, Notts. The chaps there were quick, efficient and told me what they were up to at each stage of the process.

Not too specialist at all mate. Chris is superb at what he does, after all I only had a fast road setup done.

Cool Chris. 8)

Then I will def' bear him in mind for any sort of alignment needs for the future.

Just sorting out my CTR early last year completely changed the drive with some of the twitchy back end being calmed down and the car feeling more planted in the bends. I think I was fortunate in having a pretty straight car (with no rear arm issues) in the first place.

After realising how geometry can change the car's behaviour, then the power race ended for me. :)

Not sure, need to speak to Kenny at Impulse Performance but he isn't in till this afternoon.

From the top of my head it's 12 months.

Indeed mate, top stuff. Was at Chris's again today doing some work on the car.

I can not recommend him enough!
