Hello!.. Noob! so be gentle!

Im after upgrading the Head Unit and speakers in my 53 Civic Type R.

Im in love with the car its great!!... but the stereo isn't really what I expected.

Can anyone put together a decent package for around £300ish?.

Im pretty new to the whole "ICE" thing but would love it if I could plug my ipod into it too!

Any help or advice would be appriciated..

oh.. are the standard speakers 6.5" front and back?..

Wow thanks!! Thats a great reply!!

Does the system sound good?..

Do you have any pics?...

The system sounds great yes! A noticeable improvement in clarity and bass over the stad setup. :)

I'll get some pics up asap

Cheers!

I've had a look at the head unit and it looks spot on!

I've heard that you can now buy head units that have built in bluetooth?..

Would that mean that I could use my mobile hands free?..

Do they have to be model specific.. for instance Sony Head Unit - Sony mobile phone?

Sorry if i seem stupid.. :smt021

on a budget of £300 and to meet your needs i would go for this sort of setup.

headunit

or cheaper here

and you can add one of these to it http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280415635128&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

my last last and current headunits have been jvc and they have performed very well using my mp3 player.
this model allows you to change the colour of the display and buttons to pretty much any colour you want. it will also play mp3 cd's, usb hard drive, any mp3 player through the aux in.

headunit / aerial iso adaptors

iwouldn't bother with the facia adaptor as they are a crap colour match and it looks good enough without one.

on a budget for front and rear these would perform well

all in that setup comes to £303.01 delivered;)

Yeah I used to have a JVC MP3/CD/DVD player that had bluetooth. Synced it with my phone and spoke thru the microphone clipped near the a-pillar.

The Alpine x301RR needs a bluetooth adaptor, and then you can use any phone with it :)

By the way, I fitted the head unit without the fascia, and there was a huge gap between the cubby tray and the head unit. I sprayed the fascia adaptor matt black before fitting it all together. Looks much neater IMO.

Is there anywhere within the forum with photos of peoples installs?

It'd be nice to see what other people have opted for?.

Is JVC any good I've always stayed away from their home entertainment products?.

Thanks again for all of your advice! ;)

I've allways stuck with Alpine/Kenwood/Sony. I think it's personal preference really.

Door speakers you can get for £40, I got a £100 Sony head unit with USB/AUX in, one set of pre-outs and has 52w x 4 so plenty to power the speakers. So for £300 you can get alot for your money

Some quick and dirty fone pics of the X301RR
