How do i prevent rust on car?

Hello, I got 1.4 5 door corsa last week 97 plate i got it for a bargain price. it went through m.o.t on thursday whith no problems
"he did say emishons were close to being too high"
its my first car and i want to keep it on road as long as possible and want to take care of it.
i have noticed slight rust starting from were the rear window wiper
is atatched and the inner corner of car door. im not talking
holes more like little bubbles of paint coming off whith
rust underneth. what can i do to prevent it geting worse
and any other tips on keeping car in good condition thanks

best thing is to rub it down with some wet/dry sanding paper to get rid of the rust, then paint over it.

But if your not comfortable with that or scared its going to look crap, then a body shop can do a respray on that area.

Looking after the car means washing/claying/polishing/waxing your car, then wash/polish/wax every week or so would give it enough protection. cleanyourcar.com is a site i get all my detailing bits from and alot of the pros use the same stuff on there.
