Insurance problem!

Recently just got myself a civic type R but finding it quite hard to get insured.

At the end of 2011 I had earned 3 years no claims and then sold my car due to being able to use a work van.

But now I'm being told I can't use my no claims bonus cause they expire after two year.

Will any insurance company's still accept my no claims bonus up to 3 or even 4 years, Or
give some sort of discount?

Sometimes they accept them if you were last insured with the same company.
