Driving my EP3 last night, when the lights on the dashboard all turned off AND the tail lights. Checked all the bulbs, which are fine apart from the dashboard lights but every time I changed the fuse it blows. Any ideas at all?

Cheers

a short maybe, would explain the fuse going. could there be water in any of the lights? has anything been altered recently where a wire could have been trapped or not connected correctly?

I have had it for two days, so if there was water in a fitting what would be the easiest way of getting rid of it? If that doesn't work any ideas?

if there is water in there i expect you would notice condensation in there or at least some moisture. If its the case remove the light cluster. It's only a suggestion though, im thinking there would have to be a lot of water for that to happen lol.

take bulbs out then replace fuse, if it dont blow may have faulty bulb or wrong bulb fitted ?

Checked the dashboard lights and 4 had gone. Checked all fuses and cigarette, radio and small lights fuse all gone. Will be replacing lights and fuses tomorrow? And hopefully thats the problem solved.

Just replaced all dashboard lights with the correct bulbs and then changed the fuse that kept blowing from under the bonnet but still having the same problem. Replaced bulbs yet the fuse went!!! This is frustating me now as I have only had it for a couple of days and can't drive it at night. Please any help would be appreciated? Once again checked all bulbs that are affected and none are blown or faulty. The only thing I haven't replaced is the cigarette lighter fuse and the radio fuse.

HELP!!!

sounds to me like you have taken enough home DIY attempts and need to call in the pros. a decent auto electrician won't cost a lot and should isolate what in the circuit is causing the fuse to blow. probably a short, bad earth or faulty component somewhere.

I think your right just a bit short on cash at the moment and can't keep driving without sidelights otherwise I'll get a pull. It's a pain in the arse! When you say auto electrician, normal garage do it?

a normal garage should be able to investigate, but unless you know they are particularly good at auto electronics they'll probably be fiddling around in the dark unless one of the mechs has a knowledge of electronics. if it isn't something obvious then it could end up costing you more in labour than a decent auto electronics specialist who should be able to pinpoint the problem pretty rapidly. check the local yellow pages or google, also try car audio/alarm people. my mate who fits car alarms and stereos is sh*t hot at the electronics side too as it all runs hand in hand.

where abouts in the country are you? if you say where somebody may be able to recommend a suitable garage or specialist.

Cool Cheers Mate, much appreciated

Hopefully it will all get sorted pretty quickly found a place in Oxted that are Auto electricians

remove tail light bulbs (leave them out) then replace fuse, if fuse dont blow then you have problem with tail lights

If the lights work easy way to get rid of the condensation is masking tape lolz

Cover the light in masking tape then turn your lights on but be care full not to leave the tape on to long it will crack the light. So as you see the condensation gone remove the masking tape.
DONT LEAVE ON FOR TO LONG BRO IT WILL CRACK THE LIGHT !!!!!!
