FN2 Just purchased a type r ahead of a scirocco was this a good deal?

Hello everyone my first post on the forum. I purchased my civic type R GT version on a 10 plate 2 days ago. I got 12 months MOT, 3 months warranty, 2 months road tax, full service history 34k miles on the clock for £9100.
I noticed it was due a service as last one was 7,000 miles ago 12 months ago next one due at 50,000 miles or following 12 months whichever comes first so I booked it in at a main honda dealer who quoted me £240 I think it was for its 4th service which includes valeting.

I notice on mot report it says advisory break pads getting thin so might have them replaced today, the mot was taken by the garage that sold the car to me.
I didn't see any marks on the car at the time but now I notice under the bumper the paint has come off in parts, small scratch on bumper and looks a little scuffed in bottom right hand corner. I also noticed a tiny mark around the boot catch area and on the back bumper there seems to be a few scratches all in on small area but as the car is 4 years old and done 34k miles I take it this is to be expected.
I even noticed some small chips on paint on passenger side near the windscreen think this must have been me when driving I must have got few stone chips.

I was just curious have I got a good deal £9100 for a type r gt on 10 plate 34k miles, is it worth having parking sensors, xenon lights and a multimedia touch screen fitted in oh and as an advisory would you suggest I get the brakes done ASAP or leave it until next year as they seem fine to me.

quick comment on the car. I love how it looks hence but gutted when see a few tiny marks especially caused from stones while driving. I can't believe how quick it is, doesn't take long to reach 70 so will have to keep an eye on the speedo as I never received points during 17 years of driving and hope to stay that way haha. I don't go over 80 and normally change gears around 3-5000 rpm. I can't get my head round that I have to let it get to 7000RPM if I want speed and overtake.
i just need to learn not to change up and down the gears as quickly as I am while reverse parking is the only way I park cars and find it harder in this but I'm sure give it time I will learn.

i had a hyaundi coupe se 2.0 for 7 and a half years on 02 plate, 1.0 polo n reg before that and an escort 1.3 g reg before that so this is totally different to what I have driven in the past. I only ever had 3 cars in my time driving.
can anyone give me some advice on the car as you guys are experts, is it worth putting v power in? I always have when had the option as for a few pounds more I like to think it does my engine better.

Just taken it to be serviced at Honda everything was ok apart from rear brake pads and discs which are 80% worn and new ones with fitting will cost me £280 but everything else is fine :)

personally, i live by the phrase, if it aint jap, its crap.

Just look at the reliability stats of Japanese cars. You'll also find the Type R will leave other 200bhp cars behind simply for the way Vtec delivers the power and how light they are (nearly the same as a corsa d)

So enjoy it and welcome!

Edit: And yes, i paid for a 11 plate 23k miles last feb for 13k

Welcome mate, sounds like a good car for a decent price. Type-R over Scirocco ALL DAY LONG. We are somewhat biased here though

It's certainly worth fitting good pads and discs on these cars. OEM are adequate, but there are uprated items for similar prices to what you have been quoted. Have a look at the Tegiwa site for pads and rotors (You may read bad things about Tegiwa on here, but they've never given me cause for complaint). In particular; Ferodo DS2500 pads are considered to be a must-have on Type-Rs and Stoptech rotors are excellent.

I always run on premium fuel, but it's not something to worry about. However, better fuel is better.

Honda paint is notoriously thin. Chips happen, though sealing it regularly with good wax will help a bit.

I would advise finding a good tuning garage nearby, it will be almost certainly be cheaper than Honda dealerships. By all means keep the servicing with Honda, but I prefer having my work done elsewhere. Depending on where you are there will be a good tuning garage nearby that people on here can recommend.

Don't worry, you'll soon get used to 8,000rpm!

Thanks for your replies guys. I love hearing the v ted kick in, I reach 8,000 RPM and don't realise, will it damage the engine at all if I drive like this all the time? I notice I only get about 225 miles on a full tank. I ease off when I reach 70-80 to be honest, some cars such as mercedes etc don't like how quick my car accelerates and decide to drive over 100mph but I don't bother as I still want a driving licence :)
I put v power fuel in my car. I know it's a little bit more expensive but its not that much more and if it helps the engine then I think its worth it.

Im really enjoying driving the car, its fun, quick on acceleration and the seats are really good on my back oh and its spacious inside. Girlfriends kids liked it as they have more legroom and more space than my previous car Hyaundi coupe. I must admit every time I step out my car now I keep looking around the car seeing if I can see any stone marks etc on it
Im really pleased with choosing the type r GT . Thank you for the replies, seems like a friendly forum :)

yeah, I always use Shell V-Power, and also remember, check the oil, and make sure to use the best oil you can afford, i use the helix ultra or whatever it is called.

Hitting the limiter now and then wont damage your car if its now and then, others may say different, but they are build for being bashed, think how many times a mother hits the limiter in her MPV while shouting at their kids ;) Take good care of it, and it will forgive you for the odd crunched gear and over revving

^^ What GG93 said.

Keep it topped up with oil and it will last forever. These engines love to be revved. I've been on a few runs with faster Hondas, had to keep mine in vtec all day just to keep up. The odd bounce off the revlimiter is fine, but don't make a habit of it.

They are surprisingly practical, I've had all manner of strange things in mine. Moved house with it twice too.

When I say I revved it high I didn't see it light up on my dashboard telling me I was in the max zone. I just had quick look at the dashboard and looked like it said I was in the 8 or 9000 RPM zone so quickly changed gear, only happened on the odd occasion I didn't do it on purpose it just quickly moves through the gears.
I know this sounds silly but I can't find the dipstick to check my oil :D I only had it serviced at a Honda garage 2 weeks ago so should be ok but can't see the water tank or dipstick. I will ask someone at work :D I can see where you put the oil.
I get about 230 miles from full tank not sure what I am supposed to be getting, thats 24-25 MPG. I use the carriageways most of my journeys.

I'm astounded every time at how mine still revs and will quite happily go to the redline (not the limiter) to keep me in VTEC for the next gear - all at over 150,000 miles with no knocking or other issues. Still pulls like a train. Did 208bhp on the rollers with 140,000 on the clock last year.

That's not a nice way to refer to your lady friends...

lol. You haven't met them Doc.....

These cars do run through the gears pretty quickly, short gear ratios and ballistic engines FTW. You'll get used to it, then you'll get addicted to it, then you'll spend all your money on it. I'm used to it, but I drove Revmonkey's car a couple weeks back and it revs so fast it totally took me by surprise, now I want more go-faster bits!

This is the only pic I have of my engine, but it's mostly the same as yours. The dipstick is the rectangular black plastic thingy above Domo's eye, to the left of the blue filler cap.
