lowering and camber!

ASTs can be rebuilt in the UK too by Powerstation.

However none of the JDM ones apart from the Tein can be rebuilt is the UK as far as I know.

HKS Europe is in UK too, so maybe they can rebuild their? But who would want a set of £2Kish Hypermax3 for an EP3  ??? Unless it's for racing? and HKS is your sponsor :D

HKS rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wouldnt suggest anyone buys them for their road car tho but I have got used to mine now:lol:

Oh yeah Annouar...its not what you know but who your boss knows (£2k I think not lol) ;)

With regard to servicing, rebuilding and re-valving...

  • Koni has 3 workshops (race specialists) in the UK
  • Top adjustable shock absorbers for the EP3
  • They are much more forgiving on UK roads compared to coilovers
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Only £370 for 4 shock absorbers with springs

I'm biased because I've got them  But after the last 18 months with them on the car I can do nothing but recommend them if you are buying for road use:twisted:

Funky, if I did not already have AST's I would have gone for Konis. I had em on my Series 1 RS and they were superb, I also drove Hovblacks EP and he had them on that and they were very good.

AST was set up by the original designer for Koni.

I have just had my Bilstein coilovers replaced with AST's at Powerstaion. The Bilsteins were on the car when I bought it, and were a very hard ride. Curtis at Powerstation reckons the spring rates on the Bilsteins were twice that of the ones for the AST's he matched to my road set up

I have have had the AST's on for 4 days now, and the difference is becoming very noticeable for the better. The Bilsteins are good, just not for my type of use.

KONI, chav? *sigh*

You ARE I hope joking right? Otherwise you have just made such a noob mistake of epic proportions that has not been seen since... since well since the scouts came back and told Custer "hey looks like the short cut via Little Big horn is plain sailing General".

I have no idea what you just said..

But I hear nothing but good things about KONI.

I don't think I would ever get coilys for a road car.

Again, nothing wrong with coilovers providing hey are set up correctly and have the right spring rates and damping for the roads you drive on. My car as it stands on its AST coilovers is more compliant than when it was on the OEM dampers and ABP lowering springs. Of course matching the suspension with my 16" rims and slightly taller sidewalls compared to when I was rolling on 18's helps too :D

Remember my car is a daily commute and has now done 111,200 miles. I do motorway and bumpy twisties so I needed dampers that can cope with all road surfaces.

I know where you are coming from, but I think the issue is when folks put on the trick set ups from japan as they have the 'cool' name to be seen with and then find they are over firm. Fine if you know what you are doing and are happy to live with that if you say do a lot of trackdays. But you will be compromised on the road.

However as I said above if you choose wisely and get them set up correctly there is no reason why you cannot have coilovers that work well on the road.

Cool post G.

That's the thing, I haven't been in a car with coilys AND a good set-up (should of mentioned) so im yet to fall in love with them lol.

I've only been in older model Civic's i.e. EK, EG and they were soooo uncomfortable, needed a wheelchair after.

You'll have to take me out in yours. :p

Be happy too, mine is ok tbh, I could loosen it up more if I wanted to, but tbh have just not felt the need.

Having said that, my work buddy bought an EG recently (from a guy on Civic Sport, the Silver D series with the steelies, really cool we car, and it is fit with the suspension off an EK9. It handles beautifully, he is going to put coilovers on (for one reason or another), and TBH I think it will not handle as well on the road.

Cool man. :)

What coilys is he going for then? I notice alot of people go for D2's and people have had problems with them leaking and not lasting long at all.

I hope he doesn't regret changing!

Not sure, something through work. Not D2's, I would stay clear of those tbh.
