Loxy's Plasma Blue WRX STi Saloon

Looking great Loxy! Those flaps definitely give it a wider, lower appearance.
I actually went for a test drive in a bug eyed STi earlier. I was very surprised!!! Everyone keeps telling me I'd be disappointed and that I wouldn't feel much difference between one and my EP3 (especially since mines running decent power) but I thought the difference was very noticeable and the grip is astonishing! On boost the pull is unreal. It's a lot more chuckable than I thought it'd be too! If it didnt have 105k on clock (couldnt tell though) and was a Blobeye I'd have bought it there and then. I'm coming round to the bug eye though the more I see and can't argue with the price difference. Oh, and that noise.... Heaven!

Anyway, how are you finding this now after some decent time in ownership? Miss the FN2 at all?

Who told you there wouldn't be much difference?

Just about everyone I've told I'm selling soon to get a STi. 2 of them have actually owned EP3's, got a Impreza then gone back to EP3 again after being "disappointed" with the Scoob. Plus what I've read on the forums of others doing the same.

Im now thinking all those people are idiots.

Even thought of taking a small loan out so I can buy one sooner even though I said I'd never have a loan again (mortgage not included) that drive was so impressive. I won't though...

Hopefully...

Damn my impatience.

I've owned an STI & a FN2.

The STI is completely different, both straight line speed & through the bends

With the Eibachs & FRS its not too shabby.

But that's a disscussion for another thread

Honestly, not at all.

Over the time I'd owned it, bit by bit, adding things to it and doing little things you don't realise how you make it louder and stiffer and make it less easy to live with. Getting into the STi after the FN2, it's quicker and corners better and has none of the drawbacks I'd introduced into the FN2.

Not wanting to hijack your thread Loxy!

I had a 53 blob eye WRX with a PPP plus a little more, ran 320bhp .. By far the best all round car I have ever driven .. The little track sl*g is massively fun, but as you said above mate, to get them to that stage, they become a chore to drive on the road ..

They are two very different marques, one is all about top end hooliganism, the other, a usable hefty chunk of power that is almost impossible to feel scared in !

I can honestly say ive Never seen one of those! ( well not on tyneside, we see the hatchbacks and the older wrx ) that motor...it's bloody lovely.

I'm with Corbett on this one with them being rare or at least not common, I've not seen one of these on the roads.. not a massive fan of 4 door cars but that looks stunning mate nice choice in colour!
You'll get the itch for a hothatch VTEC again :D

Lovely car! You'll be turning the boost up before long i reckon :) I don't think I've ever seen one on the road. I've only seen the hatchback one that looks like a lightly melted rover 75 lol.

:smt103epic car bro *hails*

never even seen these new ones on the roads yet which is great news for you. Everyone should understand the rarer you're car is the more it makes you proud to own it and Having said that, this is why i'll probably never buy a 3 series even though they're evidently very good cars.......they're too mainstream and have like 20 different trims of engine that all pull about the exact same exterior and interior styling, wheres the novelty? moving on.....

been drooling over one of these on autotrader the past month..........what's this baby like loxy? way more fun than the R right? i really want an sti (not the disease) :p

havn't had my fn2 for long, only half a year but cause i'm a car addict i'm already planning my next jump, love the type-R but i wan't more power already and i cant be bothered to spend that on a R or rather don't have the money to. There's some disgustingly powerful and affordable scoobs out there for fn2 money but how they hold out on reliability with their extensive mods, age and mileages I havn't a clue. Insurance is significantly higher on the scoobs too for me :/

for me, next car is either the 350z, sti or an evo. 350z being the simplest to insure (less than the type-R), sti is iffy, evo kills me on the premiums lol

Cheers fellas.

The insurance is about the same as my modded FN2 for me.

The main thing about these types of car is they just grip and go. The 0-60 doesn't feel that dramatic but you very easily put a big gap between yourself and other traffic. It needs a lot more restraint to stick to posted limits than the Type R did.

The ones to get if you are looking for big power are the old 2 litre engined ones, Blobeye and earlier. There 2.5 engines are good for about 350 and then things start going wrong or you need to look at forged pistons and stronger head bolts so it gets expensive very quickly.

I'll keep this for a few years and then see what else is out there. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice car, but it's not my forever car.

Parked up in a pay and display in St helens last week, chap walks up and asks what I think of these Subaru hatch backs and If I've had any issues...

Must be the hood scoop

Only just spotted that you have betrayed us with your new purchase Loxxy!

Although fair play to you, I've loved those new saloons since a Mr Higgins introduced this one to me - here's a bit of related driving porn:
