Loxy's Plasma Blue WRX STi Saloon

It's been the same with all my cars. I queried it when we first moved here four and a half years ago. After a bit of time to think the insurance company came up with the following reasons for the higher premium:

1. Thieves have more time to work undisturbed on cars in garages so they're more at risk of being nicked; and
2. People with garages claim more often for damage caused by crashing into their own garage.

Also, if its garaged or on a private driveway, thieves know which house to target for the keys, whereas on the street it could belong to several people. It's all theoretical bullshít though because a decent thief would just stake out the joint and find out which house it is regardless.

Checked the oil today after forgetting to check for a couple of weeks. Boring result, not lost a drop, although it is rather black. It's due a service in the next 2,500 miles so that'll be sorted out.

Still haven't got a price on the boot lid from the local dealer, they either forgot to ring me back or couldn't get one. I'll check on Wednesday, though it's only for giggles. BGW is at the bottom end of the list to be honest.

It's in the dealers on Wednesday for a warranty replacement on the AC condenser which is leaking but luckily there were no signs of a stone hit, so Subaru are covering that.

Really wanted to have the front lip ordered and on before JAE but moving house has taken away funds. I've shelled out £600 this week on searches and surveys, so the lip is going to have to wait.

Still getting stopped at petrol stations with people asking me, "Is that the new one?" and I still get tail gated by 17YOs in superminis in 30 zones.

My Fos uses very little oil too, but its always nice to keep an eye on things. Have played with the DCCD much?

I've pretty much just have it set to auto rear and drive it like a RWD.

I need a track day to have a play.

Got prices on the boot lid.

Boot lid (comes unpainted) £306 inc VAT
Painting and fitting £380 inc VAT
HT Autos wing £499 inc VAT
Guesstimate painting and fitting £300ish

So it's around £1,500 give or take, so I think that's a no. That's about the same price as an exhaust and remap.

Just setting off to pick it back up after the AC warranty work.

You added painting and fitting twice? Surely you can get it all sprayed at the same time and fit the boot lid yourself? (obviously you'd pay for the wing to be fitted properly)

£380 was for Subaru spraying and fitting the bootlid.

The bootlid has electrics and proximity sensors for the keyless entry as well as a motorised popper for the remote boot release. I probably could do it myself, but the price was 2 hours labour to fit it and the rest was painting/blending to match the car. It would need to be fitted at the same time as spraying to get a good match.

I was reckoning on £150-200 to spray the BGW, based on roughly what it costs to get the Mugen FN2 wing sprayed. I have heard of some places charging £300 for it though, without fitting mind... Then the rest for drilling and mounting the thing which would be around 1.5-2 hours at bodyshop rates.

Wait till one's written off and it's all sold on eBay.

I fancy carbon skirts and a lip for mine but it's a lot of money on a subtle mod.

I've got a search saved on eBay. Nothing but the spoilers popping up yet!

Carbon bits do look the nuts. Just so low down, it makes parking expensive. I think I'm going to go PTE and carbon wrap the stuff when I do it.

4 new boots arrived today.

Just need some rims to put them on now.

Did you get your money back from those idiots?

They sent me pictures after a two day wait. They've managed to kerb around a quarter of the way round one of them.

I've asked for £50 off which would be the price of a refurb and risk it being a different colour from the other three or my money back. I only got the pictures through at 16:45 on Friday and replied straight away. I'm guessing they shut at 5 and don't open Saturday.

I've got an identical set lined up but without centre caps and they are in Nottingham, so I can get them on the way back from Santa Pod if the eBay set fall through.

??
What happened mate? They mess an alloy up when doing the AC job or something?

Nice pick on the tyres. I need to sort a set of winters out myself. Mine are frightening in the wet nevermind when it starts snowing! I have managed to slide it once in the rain now though, only lasted about 1 second but made me feel like a mother****ing boss! After I **** myself mind...

 I've had one of those moments.

No I've paid for a set of 17s from a Hawkeye STi on eBay. The seller is a business that specialises in Subaru spares and has 1,800+ 100% feedback so I didn't think there would be a problem.

I've just been mugged about since I've paid to be honest. They said the alloys ended up on the boss's car while his alloys were away for refurb and he kerbed them. I was told this the day after I did the buy it now and paid.

I'd been in touch with them for a couple of days beforehand too as they originally went up for sale with summer tyres on but I negotiated a price without tyres because I didn't want them. I'm only ever going to fit winters on these. Everything seemed tickity boo until I paid.

Nice car John! :D I just read the entire thread and was nodding away in agreement every time someone mentioned the need for a BGW, until I got to your post with the cost break down... sod that, map and and exhaust it is!

Did you run your car at the Pod, how'd it go?

Oh and get some more pics up, they're a bit thin on the ground! ;)
