When you consider the variety of people and knowledge which exists amongst us it would meake sense to have a "Members Services" section or even a sticky. 8)

For Example.

My name is Carl/Scousefella, I am in the Transport Business and am willing to offer my knowledge for route management and information.

I can help you to avoid traffic hotspots and give you a few shortcuts etc. :D


Obviously people with IT skills, Financial advice, Motor Trade etc can post any available info. 8)

Carl I like the idea. I have contacted a few members now and asked for their expert advice and they were a great help :) :wink:

I really do need to get the profile tab sorted. So that when you click on it, you get more information than is curently there.

My idea is to have the members info, a space for some pics and a few other bits and pieces. So a member can have their own personal space on the forum, but so other members can view it.

Currently talking to an expert on phpbb forum about it.

There is ALOT to it though. But fingers crossed 8)
 
Sounds like a cracking idea, sure a lot of people would be interested in this! :D

Perhaps we could put up a most asked question section, save the guys helping repeating the same stuff all over - more like;y aimed at the IT bods though I guess :?
 
How about people PM their details to a mod who then enter them into a locked thread which is made a sticky, like the members pics thread?

Hmmmm.... I wonder... this thread has my attention (although not much time to do something straight away, perhaps). :smt023
 
I'm currently playing with a few ideas for this 'Members Services' idea. Hopefully I'll having something up and running soon (although I'll need to run it past the rest of the admin/mods to see how feasible it is).

Alrighty, this Member Services 'thing'... just playing with a few ideas and after suggestions and/or ideas.

- What sort of information would people find useful?

- What additional information should be stored for each member?
e.g. specialist area (IT, engineering, etc.)

- How about a 'page' that each member can edit/update themselves?
e.g. a 'page' where each member can simply enter text themselves that, perhaps, describes their services or areas of expertise/speciality. In addition this 'page' could also serve as a general area for sharing more information about yourself to members of the Community. A set of rules and restrictions would need to be drawn up.

- Would members be happy for the 'members extra' features to be outside of the forum infrastructure and part of this website's homepages? (Although forum connectivity is still driving the potential new features - i.e. the pages may look different but you still retain your forum username, etc.) Something like this for example... :wink:

- Any other ideas / suggestions? If it gets enough backing / support I'll crack on with it (as it's going to take a significant amount of time to do this body of work...)
