Mikey81's - 2008 S2000

my plan for this solo was to be smoother and use 2nd gear more but they did a stupidly tight course, so i ended up being a bit silly but its the perfect place to learn what your car does in a safe place.

A few more pics from the autosolo

6th October 2014 - 58,025miles

I had TGM give the car another full service including gearbox oil, diff oil, plugs, cabin filter, spark plugs, valve adjustment plus the usual service items. I asked for the brake fluid to be changed as well but they thought i was taking the **** as it was only done in April this year, so they just tested it and not really that surprising it came back as all good so they didn't flush the system.

I did ask them to look at the alignment as i haven't had it done yet, the car was pretty much spot on which is always nice, but they did say that some of the adjuster bolts were siezed, so that means i will be saving some money to go towards new suspension bushes and get it all un-seized.

Safe to say the car is now driving lovely again :)

With the miles i do i do tend to change cars frequently and not surprisingly i have been out looking again, even though i know i should even think of changing car. I have been out in a couple of 350z's locally as i do like them and the sound, but each time i have got back in my car afterwards with the feeling that the 350z may not be the car for me. For now the S2k is staying.

Hi, does the Kenwood KSC-SW11 run directly of a sub-out port of a head unit?

Yes, the headunit has sub controls and the 'sub' also has some adjustment. It does ok, but you can tell the sound is coming from the passenger side, I did toy with the idea of 2 of them :) if your passing my way or I am near you can have a listen if your not buying on very soon

Today didn't quite go to plan.

At lunchtime someone at work pointed out my drivers side rear was flat, so had a quick look and pumped it back up to go to the local tyre place. A screw in the outside block too close to the edge to be repaired. Annoying as I only got the tyres not that long ago (about 7k) but they still had easily over 4 mm of tread.

I have wanted a second set of alloys and there were some ap1 16 inch alloys on the forum with winter tyres, so while its a little early to be fitting them as its not 'cold' enough I have bought them. I will just do local journeys in it for now and use the ep3 for longer journeys.

I will look into stickier rubber for next year on track or autosolos but I need to check the regs as to what is allowed but I have plenty of time to check.

I'm not sure I drive the car enough to justify putting one in to be honest. But from the start of next year it will be my only car so I may be tempted.

I noticed your steering wheels looks like mine did when I bought it, I had mine refurbed by the guy on the S2K forum, I'd highly recommend it. The new wheels looks superb. Have a look in my thread for pics.

S2000. Someone was basically looking for a car of my spec and mileage, so we agreed a price and it's now no longer mine, I hadn't even advertised it just made a passing comment

I had a great experience with the car, I just fancied a change. The S2000 is the car that has been best to me in my use as a daily drive, track day and autosolo and it did it all with popping one rear anti roll bar drop link. If I'm in a situation later on I will have another bit I know that it will cost me alot to find a good one again.

I had it for 15 months, many memories and photos of where it's been with me, 23,000 miles in that time, 3 full services at TGM, 2 sets of tyres, 2 sets of brakes and it cost me very little as I sold it for a figure very close to what I paid for it. With my mileage it would turn into a high mileage car that would go from being a very nice genuine example to feeling a little bit tired in another year or 2.

I have already bought a 2007 Nissan 350z GT 313 Gunmetal Grey, Black leather with sat nav and parking sensors, so all options :)

Its surprisingly agile considering it weighs a fair bit more.

I have new discs and ds2500 pads delivered today, I will be ordering a pair of uniroyal tyres for the front to match the rears for winter and I will mostly likely replace all 4 with Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 2's. I wasn't going to update this as it's another make ;)

Mikey81's - 2005 CTR & 2007 350z

Had the car for nearly a week and starting to enjoy it more.

Gave the car a clean this morning in the hope it is dry tomorrow for Goodwood.

I didn't find anything else obvious wrong with the paint which is always nice, it could do with a quick polish which hopefully my neighbour will be doing as he is in to detailing

With the new tax rules it did hurt a little having to pay for the car, insurance and tax before driving home, especially when it was the 27th of the month, oh well.

It feels like the complete opposite to the S2k, but if you want to drive quickly it just does it happily, so hopefully I won't get too bored if the 'cruiser' side of the car

Very nice! I've always had a hankering for one of these. I test drove one a few years back, it was everything that Hondas aren't. Are you enjoying it?

Still pretty tempted tbh, GT86s and '15 Type-Rs are still out of budget. I can't think of a better (non Honda) performance car for the money.

It's one of the cars that I wanted to own as they sound soo good and also does what I want from a car. It's taken me a week or so to start enjoying it which I was worried when I bought it as it is so different in feel to the s2k.

It's very easy to drive, steering has nice feel and it does sound as good as I hoped. Economy on a run is about 3mpg less than the s2k which isn't bad for an engine that's 1.5 litres bigger and has 2 more cylinders.

I need to get my brakes changed as I really like the ds2500 pads but I will also need to change my tyres as the falkens on the front are struggling at the moment.

I considered a few other options which were e46 m3 (hated it), z4 coupe but didn't really want it if it wasn't the z4m, vauxhall monaro, another s2k, I ruled out hot hatches as we still have the ep3. I figured I would stick with the 350z and so far it seems the right choice

Yeah, you're always going to feel that extra weight. However, that torque and noise is worth every kg of it. Tyres and brake upgrades will be essential.

I was really surprised when I drove one; not as chuckable and snappy as a Honda, but very predictable and playful for a powerful RWD.
