Mikey81's - 2008 S2000

I've just been using the car since getting it back from Honda.

Last week was our first wedding anniversary so the wife and I had a few days in Scotland. I do love the fact that the Mrs puts up with my spirited driving and only complains when she has been sat in the car for hours without a leg stretch

The trip was a nice round trip of 1,261miles and the car somehow averaged 35mpg for the whole trip, which included some truly epic mountain roads with the roof down and the k&n signing along. Basic route was Hampshire to Scotland, Cumnock, Fort William, Aberdeen, Ballater, Morpeth and back home to Hampshire.

A few pics from the trip

Mileage is now 41,500ish

The car is going into TGM next week for the baffled sump to be fitted, DS2500 pads all round, new discs if needed and new brake fluid. I will probably get the Nitrons sent off for repair and get them re-fitted as i have booked a track day at Bedford on the 20th July :) i cant wait to get back on track in an S2000

Looks nice.

How come you're getting a baffled sump? Does the F20C suffer from starvation on track with street tyres?

I do autosolos (high revs and tight corners) and track days (it's the longer corners I worry about in general), so I figured why take the risk, it was cheap enough to just fit and forget about it. I do want some stickier tyres also a small safety measure is not bad thing.

I did many track days in my s2000 on semi slicks (R888 and A048 ) and I had no issues so you should be fine without to be honest.

I wasn't hanging around either so might be worth saving your money buddy.

If you do a YouTube search for 'Stephen longy' I have a few videos up of them if it's of any interest to you :)

i already have the sump, and its not a huge amount of money :) I know i'm never really going to need it, but its one of those annoying things in my head that means i can't bring myself to hold the car near the redline on long sweeping corners

i will however have a search for the videos.

I have just collected my car from TGM, i do like having a specialist so close to my house.

Mugen Baffled Sump fitted, Valves adjusted, oil and filter, Tegiwa oil filter bracket fitted, DS2500 pads all round and new brake fluid as well.

I have only driven it back to work but i forgot what good brakes felt like, the originals were still in good condition with about 50% left, so i have those as spares just incase.

The car is now how i want it to be for a while, so i can start enjoying it more and finally start advertising my 350z

I have a track day booked at Bedford in July, looking forward to seeing what the 08 suspension feels like in comparison to my 04, as the mod's are basically the same on both cars now.

Mileage is now upto 43k and still loving it.

Tonight after work I finally managed to get to my mates house to use his pit and his welding skills

I forgot how nice 2 simple 28mm link pipe makes the exhaust sound, I stuck with 28mm as I did that on my last one and for my use it is perfect.

This car I have a K&N fpik and that does over power the exhaust sound a bit, I'm tempted to go back to my standard airbox but that can wait until after I have done Bedford this month

Mike - Do you do the autosolos over in Aldershot per chance? Been thinking about popping over there one day to check them out.

Yes I am a member of FDMC and try to do the Aldershot events are they are so close, next year I plan to do as many as possible but I can't decide which tyres to get as Federal 595 are not legal :(

46,590 miles

Car was serviced by Honda Bracknell today, yet again they have done a good job. I went for a 12+ service, gearbox and diff oil was also changed. There is a click from the rear which wasn't identified but now I'm thinking about it, it may be the hub nut so I will get a couple of new ones to put on.

I like the fact that they collect it and drop it back to me :) lazy but means I have no hassle and it keeps the full Honda history.

Plans are now to fit the winter alloys when the temps drop a bit and continue to use it daily and enjoy it :)

For a little while I have wanted a little more noise from the exhaust. I already have the UK exhaust mod with 28mm pipe and I've heard other cars with a larger pipe and wasn't sure.

There were a few exhausts that came up for sale recently and after me being very indecisive I picked up a second hand mugen ap1 exhaust. This one appealed because it doesn't have 4 inch tailpipes which I do not want on the back of my car, hopefully this should be subtle enough.

Fitted it this afternoon and so far I'm liking the sound, it's a deeper sound than I was expecting but not too loud and doesn't drone so for me a great compromise :)

I think I need to tweak the position slightly but it's dark and it's not causing issues just me wanting it to sit perfectly :)
