my dc2 blog

Well this week has had some progress and some set backs, started off stripping the hubs down with the 4 pots and discs on. Undid first bolt that holds the caliper to the bracket, 2nd bolt the allen bolt rounds the inside of the bolt. had to drill out the bolt. managed to do other side. order a new bolt set from hi spec.

i bought a set of bumper indicators off a lad breaking one as mine were cracked
gave them a clean with meguiars plast-x

well after doing some research on the forums the only way to change the studs with out spitting the hub is to grind a bit off the hub so i went to my mates garage

Then we discovered the extended bolts I've been supplied don't fit

need to see how it looks fitted

Nice DC2 fella 8) Just one thing though (don't take it the wrong way lol) But next time you refurb/paint a cam cover, use masking tape! Not good getting paint in the oil & plug wells. Keep up the good work though, think I commented on this car a while back on the dc2 forum. Enjoy mate.

Cheers for the comments, and its ok i can take constructive critism lol. next time i think ill be getting it powder coated any

today i thought i'd make a start with my brake conversion by fitting the spacers and extended wheel bolts

rear ones i ended up having to split the hub to swap the bolts
i found that the wheel nuts i have aren't long enough lol, plus need a set off longer or open locking wheel nuts

tried to take it for a test drive tonight but found that its catching the arches so i will have to raise it a little for now and have to look into getting arches rolled

just found a pic from when the car had no spacers and 15's and it looks so wierd now lol

ended up having problems with those wheel nuts so ordering some more now,
need to get the drivers side rear caliper refurbed then will fit the hi spec's at the same time

That looks awesome with the wider track. I was thinking of doing the same with mine.

Haven't read the whole thread yet, what size spacers did you go for in the end?

Si.

Had a delivery at work today,
my 2nd set of wheel nuts, hopefully these ones will fit

And a replacement harness for the ecu as Scott @ h tune said he checked the ecu before it was sent out so the issue must be the harness. we will find out later on but i home this cures it as I've now been waiting about 6 week to try this ecu lol

still growing on me but i guess safety comes before looks

next thing was to fit the h tune ecu and make sure it didn't have the same problem, started up first time. took it for a spin tonight, vtec switch over is now at 5k so doesn't seem as aggresive but just keeps pulling all they through, infact i was changing around 8 - 8.5k rather than just before limiter at 9k. feels to have more midrange power.

changed the starter motor over for one off my mates ek4 type r which recently got written off as i'd been having starting issues, had come to the conclussion it was the starter or immobilser but as i've changed both ecu and starter and it did it again today i'm starting to think its a fuel pump problem, maybe not always primimg, maybe a loose connection or on its way out

whilst i was messing about with the car i decided to take the bumper off and trail fit the headlamp vent, need a smaller intake as its too big for the whole but you get the idea
