My Milano weekend&trackday project

Messages

Greetings from Finland chaps! I think it's time to post my Milano EP3. Civic Type-R has been most desirable car to me since 2005 and I decided that I am going to get EP3 when I can afford one. Early 2012 I finally had what I always wanted. 2003 Milano Red CTR.

Thats pretty much all the rust she got so no biggie. It'll be fixed till next summer.

Right away I bought some coilovers from BC-Racing and Team Dynamics alloys with sticky AD08's and they made quite a difference compared to winter tyres It had before!

Coilovers installed with mild drop. Works best on the bumpy roads of Finland.

Also got her detailed and suspension alignment done + corner wighted. It became apparent that original seats were not supportive enought and they had to go.

I chose Buddy Club items. Medium size seat for me and Large seat for a passenger.

And this is how she was in the summer.

And some goodies what's to come:
Carbonetic cluch - ordered
Wavetrak lsd

5.06 final gear set - ordered
SuperPro caster increase polybushes
Decat, K-pro, Intake and maybe rbc manifold who knows?

Huge plans and I am trying to do everything by myself. We'll see how it goes:D My time outside of work is very limited so this may take a while but no matter. I have all the time in the word.

That looks really smart, always nice to see another Milano EP3 :D

The white multi-spokes are a big improvement over the other alloys, but if they were winter wheels, fair enough!

Im looking at using ADO8's aswel how do they behave?

So much grip I've not come even close to the limit on dry roads but my mate has and he told they are very predictable. They also got decent level of wet grip. Ride is bit harsh and they make lots of noice, but that's what performance tyres do. These are in a different league compared to for example FK452's or Rs2's. I can highly recommend them :p

edit: oh size I'm using is 215/40/17 and they have good steering feel

Ok it's update time. Nothing big happened just been sourcing parts so far.

I contacted Eightspeed for SuperPro Custom polybush kit cause I use jdm rear arb and DC5R lca and front arb and aftermarket camber arms. They said it's no problem to build custom kit if needed. I'm pleased with their service. Also purchashed OEM floor mats from Hendy's for a reasonable price and bought RBC manifold with Integra's 65mm tb and K-tuned adapter. Manifold will get layer of thermal barrier coating to keep excess heat away. Funny thing is that shipping from UK to Finland is 25€ and shipments like that rbc is 18,5€ IN COUTRY

I've always fancied red interior so I got few sample pieces of carpet. All four are different shade of red. I've yet decided which colour to choose as I need facelift doorpanels to mach the colour. Taking pics with my HTC so they don't tell the whole truth. First on right is called Type-R Red but I'm not sure if it's right choice.. we shall see.

Red seat covers would look much cooler than current black ones in my opinion.

Recieved some parts from states

75000_4279992037722_1092525399_n.jpg

OEM carbonfibre radio block off and FD2 gear knob to make interior look a little nicer.
New Type-R emblems front and rear as old ones have lost their colour.
OEM 5.06 Final Drive Gear set
MTEC shift lever springs
Mugen Pedal set
DC5 front arb with drop links.

I inquired BuddyClub if it's possible to buy red covers and they replied its not possible and if I wanted red seats I should buy new set:mad: They promised me 10% discount but i'll get Pole Positions if I ever change seats.

Hi guys its update time!

Summer went by enjoying the weather, holiday and lots of alcohol :p Civic was left in garage half dissassembled and I nearly forgot it or maybe I just couldnt be bothered to do anything about it.

Anyway there's been alot going on lately. Engine wire looming, intake mani & drive shafts removed and motor is now ready to be lifted off. Interrior completely removed including dashboard which will be flocked. Now you may think doing the same and I can give you an advise: DON'T do it unless you are mentally ill :) It is real pain in the ass to come off and you will propably lose your mind.

Im thinking of going sort of HC here and installing a rear section of a proper weld-in cage where rear seats should be. Just have to leave original seat belts where they are to pass the mot and they are on way if put the cage in. I don't care much of a bare metal so carbonfibre doorcards, handbrake/floorpanel and rear section panels will be fitted with red carpet to give a nice touch.

Things to do next:
-Find engine crane and lift the engine
-Remove front+rear lower control arms and subframe-> sandblast and powder coat latter two and other parts
-Fit polybushes all around
-Replace timing chain, tensioner, guides, valve springs, gaskets, injectors, crankpulley etc.
-Gear box off and open, install higher final gear, lsd & clutch assembly + check everything is ok.
-RBC-cylinder head port matching + RBC- thermal coating
-Use milloin € to buy million parts
-Put everything back together and enjoy driving

Carbonetic's Pro Blade clutch. Fly wheel is superlight about 3,5kg.

While seeking engine crane for someone to lend me I removed nasty lookin carbon wrap from dash facsia. Few scratches found underneath so it will be flocked too. Radio block-off looks ace

To be continued..

Tomorrow I finally get engine crane in my hands!

As mentioned before Im going hardcore with interior and unfortunately its not possible to cover everything in carbon so I deceided to hide/shed some electics. Pain in the ass once again.

I'd like black or white paint inside over the red which looks quite crap to be honest :) Need to sort that out. Im trying to keep JDM-bling out of this project and focus on things what really matters. I will keep you posted.

I have managed to do something.. atleast nearly all my money are wasted on this :p seriously now.. Engine is been lifted long ago and partly disassembled(not in the pic).

Valve cover looked like a bit tatty so I washed it but this is what happened. Now it may as well get heat dispersant coating on to make it look nicer and maybe add some function too. Dashboard is flocked now and carbon has arrived. Dash looks superb and doorcards and other panels are literally feather weight. Couple random pics in the end.
