FN2 New 'Soon to be' Owner

The FD look get but for me the interior crashes it, its just not the same, im sure i can get the same performance out of a FN if i spent a nice bit on it, plus i aint sure on the 4 doors lol. I know i seem fussy lol but it took me long enough to like the FN2...

Any one got any opinions on a manifold and cat back...

You chose a corsa sri instead of a clio 197 cup, an SLK instead of a boxster and now you're going to get an FN2 instead of a FD2. At least you are consistant.

Are you aware how different the FD2 is to the FN2?

The red interior looks the nuts, and way better than the FN2. I'll agree the black interior looks a bit naff

Nah the Merc is going getting a little bored of it, as for chosing a corsa SRi over the Clio... 2 reason

1. Never ever buying a french car
2. my SRi was pushing 210 BHP.

and the Porsche nah too common i was after the A5 originaly but they were not out for another 4 months or so

and TBH i have no idea of the difference, lol could some one help me out haha.

FD2 and FN2 are based on different platforms. About all they share are the badges "Honda", "Civic" and "Type-R".

Sure you could tinker with the engine in an FN2 and beat the standard FD2's 230ish bhp but spend as much as you like on an FN2's chassis it will never handle like an FD2.

With an FD2 you get independent rear suspension, LSD, hydraulic PAS, Brembo brakes, stiffer body shell, that's just off the top of my head.

Based on your previous choices though you may well prefer the FN2.

J

Im panning to put a LSD in the FN2, but i'll keep thinking because the deposit is not going down till the new year anyway lol.

The FN2 is produced to maximize profits (ie, cut corners)

The FD2 was developed with the Japanese market in mind, 'nuff said

If I had the money and was in your position then I would seriously consider the FD2.

The mods' list you have written for a prospective FN2 is already done on the FD2. You are turning a 'soft' Euro' car into a tarmac terror when you could get a Japanese tarmac monster that already has the bits on it. The potential to tune this base further will give you results that would not be achievable even after throwing two handfuls of money on the FN2.

It is your choice at the end of the day. :D

I understand like but, the FN2 IMO looks so much more attractive, if the FD2 was in a 2 door version, and had a interior like the FN2 it would be perfect.

Like Glen said FN2 was made to cut corners... IMO the FD was all about power, as they knew the younger market would just ruin the interior with roll cages, different seats etc, and as for the 4 door i just don't understand.

Don't get me wrong, if the dealer turned around after i put the deposit down and said 'Sorry i can only get you a Civic Type R FD2' i would stil be made up lol.

And, Finally... Surly spending up to 8k on respectable recommendable mods, will put up a good competition.

A lot of people make the change FN2>FD2, not vice versa :santa:

It sounds as though we can not convince you, what I would do is test drive the FD2 before you commit to buy an FN2 ;)

That is the only way to go - once you have felt the differences whilst at the wheel, well that will tell you exactly which car to buy.

IMO the FD was all about power.

I was going to butt out of the FN2 bashing, but I couldn't let that pass, especially as the comment came from somebody who thought putting 210bhp in a corsa was a good idea.

FD2 is about thorough engineering not badge engineering (like the FN2).

If you can't tell the difference between hydraulic PAS and electronic PAS, or understand why fully independant rear suspension is so important; buy a FN2, you deserve one.

Merry christmas.

J

I fully understand, what the difference is, but not felt it yet because i aint driven an FD2, and 210bhp in a corsa was a Pi55 poor idea but it was so much fun.

Get the Mugen RR (FD2).

It's porn.

Honestly, the FD2 is the Holy Grail of Honda Civic's at the moment and not to get one, if you have the choice of the range would be foolish and I would cry for you.

arent mugen rrs all sold out. weren't they all sold straight away. i remember a magazine's test drive, they were saying how rare it was and how hard it was to get an owner to let them test drive it.

as a current fn2 owner, and a very 'in regret' one at that, i have to add my input. FD2 is what its all about. my FN2 is nice and fun but i get moments where i just wished it was just that little bit more. and i know the FD2 is just that. i was very tempted at swapping but then realised the financial loss i would be in if i did, seeing as i only owned the car for a year at that point.

I think going to go for the FN2 guys, despite what you lot have been saying, agree, the FD is a better car, but its to not my type i will however swap it straight away if i ever feel disappointed.

But the mods, will sure help that... Hopefully!.
