Phil’s ep3 resto

Hi guys just thought I’d up date the tread as it’s been a while. I’ve now replaced every gasket, seals and O rings on the engine apart from the head gasket and valve stem seals so hopefully there will be no leaks. I’ve also fitted a genuine Honda timing chain and tensioner as well as a new exedy clutch whilst I had the gearbox off. Couple of photos i took

as you can see the old chain was a little stretched!

Whilst I’ve been working on the engine at work I’ve also been tidying up the engine bay at home. As you can see from some of the older photos there were a lot of surface rust everywhere so I set about grinding it all down as much as I could, treating it with hammerite kurust, primer, then 3 coats of satin silver and 2 coats of lacquer.

The paint work is definitely not going to win any awards but compared to how it was it’s a million times better.
The big day also happened yesterday and the engine was put back into the car.

Still got a lot of work to do before the car will be back on the road but it does feel like a big step closer!
Next will be finishing off everything in the engine bay and then making a start on painting the front and rear bumper as well as sourcing a new bonnet.
