hi my 03 ctr creaks from the front end when i pull off and when im coming to a stop, any ideas or anyone else had this problem ,cheers
 
Hi! My EP3 has also developed a creaking noise from the front. When driving with the stereo turned off the other day i noticed it when pulling away, coming to a stop and also when the road gets bumpy i can hear it. My steering is also very very sluggish to return to the centre. Could this be the strut top mounts, or am i looking at a hefty steering rack replacement (Gulp) :confused:

I hope your right mate. Ive got the motor booked in at the dealers on the 21st so a technician can come out on a road test. When i described the noise to them, they didn't eem to think it would be the steering rack, which is good news!

i'll keep this thread updated for future reference

Finally got my local dealer to have a look at the motor this morning. After road testing it and having it in the garage for 2 hours, they have asked me to bring it back in on the 5th May so they can spend more time on it. They have tried lubricating & tightening all relevant suspension, steering bolts, exhaust heat pile shields, greased roll bar/suspension bushes, but still the noise is there. What is strange is the fact that when it is cold & so is the weather it doesn't make a creaking noise, but the more you drive it, the louder the creaking becomes & it happens more frequently. I've also noticed now the days are getting warmer it is getting worse. Very strange indeed!

I personally think it is the steering rack because my steering wheel doesn't return to centre either, but we shall see!

Roll on the 5th because this creaking noise is doing my head in!
 
My EP3 was exactly the same, on hot sunny days it creaked, it was teh top suspension mount needing lubricating. You have to remove the whole shock to crease the top opf ot and teh mount.

Cheers Suits a useful bit of info! Did you have a problem with steering by any chance?
 
My EP3 creaks on pull off too, but I suspect it might be the clutch cable as it does it when I let out the clutch. I'll definately try tightening and lubricating the suspension mounts, i'll let you know how I get on.
 
Mine creaks after a few feet of pulling away, but I dont hear it again until I get in it again after it has been parked up.
 
My CTR is a bit like me - a bit stiff and creaky first thing in the morning lol

Mines done it for 20k miles. I should really have a look at it one of these days.
 
My old EP3 creaked, but when I turned right mainly, but sometimes when in a straight line... Found out mine was linked with the steering rack.... Apparently a common problem pre 04..and not a cheap one either!
 
Car is with the dealer today, they think they have found out what is causing the creaking - split front engine mount. They have also realigned the sub frame which the "insurance approved" repairers had put on incorrectly - muppets! I have informed my insurance of this and they are going to pay for any work that the Honda dealer has to correct, or replace due to shoddy workmanship. They are also opening a complaints case against their "approved repairers"

As for my steering not returning to center, sounds like they have not looked at this yet.

Im getting the same creaking explained here. Can anyone tell me if greasing the top of the suspension mounts fixed this issue?
