revving to 9500rpm???

Hi guys,

Just looking at getting a type-r, got a short list of some potential cars.

I came across one advert though:

It has a 4-2-1 manifold, b pipe and spoon n1 - (too loud for trackdays?)
AEM intake
Porte RBC inlet
Hondata k pro custom

And a claimed rev limit of 9500rpm.

Can the engine handle this? Too good to be true? Anyone else here revving to that level on a stock engine?

Ok, thanks, whats the standar KPRO rev limiter set to? It says it also has launch control? TDI North tuned he claims.

K pro is a completely customizable tool. No standard rev limiters. Depends on what an engine can handle or make power at. The rev meter might be showing 9500 with true limit set at 9K which is still very high for a stock valve train to handle. But If it indeed has a kpro it's a good thing any way you see it. The car has expensive mods (rbc intake mani and kpro). Rbc is the best intake on sale for a k series ATM (and oem) and doesn't come cheap either, moreover k pro is expensive as well and great asset for any car stock or modified. If you are near tdi or have a reputable tuner nearby, arrange a viewing with seller and just by plugging (tuner) his laptop into the kpro he can tell you anything you need to know. Even if it has a k pro in the first place.

Edit: forgot to ask what car is it? Any more info would be nice.
IMO don not turn down the car before seeing it up close. Parts listed are serious enough to ring the guy.

Sadly the seller is at the other end of the country from me, although Im near TDI south and my mate knows the TDI north guys well so im gonna ask them about the car today see what history they have.

Hopefully I should be viewing it this sunday.

Has very good mods. What's alarming is vtec set too low and claimed limiter to the sky. Better check with tdi and gather intel. Maybe this guy is trying to impress or if he's for real, engine is headed to explosion.

4,500 crossover is about right for those mods. 9,500 limit isn't.

You'd need an S2000 oil pump conversion and some decent valve springs to safely rev it that high and even then it's a bit pointless as the power will tail off well before that.

The list also says
uprated cam tensioner pullys
No such thing on a K20. Chain tensioner, chain guides, no pulleys as it's a chain not a belt.

its bidding at 3200 atm.

Im unsure whether to risk this one or get a unmolested FSH clio 172 cup now.

Clio isn't as fun or fast as the ep3. If not that one, I'm sure something clean will come up soon. Don't get a Renault in any case. Better spend the money on mods rather repairing the French pile of s*it.

lmao, id rather have the honda thats for sure, but imo alot of the ones on the market currently are overpriced by 1k, and crossing over with fn2 prices.

I'd actually wager they are just as fun and fast. From experience. And my Renault never had a single fault.

But that's another story.

As Chris had said. Get a different car. This one doesn't seem legit.
