Service cost.

Its that time of year again! My '04 Ep3 is due its service, last year I only had the basic service done as it had fairly low milage, now its up to 48k I want to have a more major one done. I think the valve clearances are worth having done, but what about transmission fluid etc? What are peoples suggestions, and how much is it likely to set me back?
Also how much is a Honda stamp really worth? I trust my local mechanic and his prices are stupidly low for mates like me!!

on an 04 with that mileage unless you were planning on keeping it for over 2-3 years i would get it serviced at honda. it might cost £100 more in labour than your mate but when you come to sell it the FSH makes it easier to sell.

Honda quoted me £430 for a service and thats with my mate who works there!!! Local garage charging £150 for same thing

I've just had my annual one done which cost me £170 but it's only done 29k miles so I should expect the next one to be a bit more. I'm going to stick with Honda for all my servicing, might be pricy but as rossy says, makes it easier to shift when the time comes to part with it.

Scott.

Not if your an enthusiast. If i saw a type R with a full honda service history and one with a full specialist history (ie tgm, tdi etc) then i would go for the one with the specialist history. I have seen what the spanner monkeys at main dealers do to customers cars

Alot of the honda dealers mechanics haven't got a scooby what they're doing. Hence the labour charges on your bill

All done, Full service and valve clearances (which did need adjusting!) for a ton. I did provide my own oil, but thats not a bad price i feel! I have no intention of selling any time soon, and theres only so much you can pay for a dealer stamp! Honda wanted nearly three times that price!

thats the right price. if you're keeping the car for 3 years+ you did the right thing. potentially saving yourself best part of a grand over the coming services.
