Servicing recommendations - East Mids/East Anglia

Well the FD2 is nearly due it's 1 year service. I have used Powerstation in the past as it is 40 mins from where my family live, but a bit too far for me to make a trip over to unless i happen to be over that way. So with that in mind can anyone recommend me a decent place to get my FD2 serviced around the North Cambridgeshire area? This could include south Lincolnshire, Northants & Cambridgeshire areas. Most of the known specialists (TDI etc) are far too far from me.

My local Honda are very average at the best of times, I wouldn't take my FD2 to them anyway but as I was interested to find out costs they said they would charge me a premium on their std rates as it was JDM!

I have heard Grantham Honda are supposed to be good so that might be my fallback

Any other recomendations?

What a bunch of morons. How can they charge you extra because it's JDM!?! Basically they're saying the want to charge you extra because they don't know what the fcuk they're doing. You should get charged according to what is done to your car rather than because of what car it is.
 
Not the Cambridge one they are rubbish. I havent been back since my first service with them.
 
Yep the sales manager said as it was none UK there would be extra work required to work out what to do! Filled me full of confidence that did!

Although the car and most of it's servicing componenets (except the engine) are based on the UK Civic Hybrid? Even the engine is just a tweaked FN2 is it not?

Different variant of the K20 but serviced in exactly the same way. They are either cluless or taking the pi$$.
 
Stratstone in Bedford are very good, i know someone who drives from london to have their car serviced there.

Steve Cox is the service manager there and he's been there for 20 odd years and very knowledged in Type R's.

They used to service and repair all of Johnathan Palmers ATR and ITR when they were running them so they got well involved with the big repairs.

If you decide just tell him Matt Redman recommended them. :D

I've just called up Stratstone in Bedford, seem like good guys who know there stuff, but that I asked about the labour rate - £95 p/hr + VAT, that £110 p/hr all in :eek:

Grantham is £65 p/hr + VAT

That surprises me, but i haven't used them for a few years for servicing because i got free 3 year servicing with Johnsons when i bought my S. I still keep in contact with them though.

Have you thought about negotiating?? Tell them what Grantham is offering and see if they can match it. ;)

You can try Nortonway Letchworth (01462 678191) if you like. Speak to Brian Smith the service manager. Tell him I passed you on (Chris Goddard) he will sort you out. Tell him your from the forum aswell for a nice discount :twisted:

I know on the sales part a few people werent happy with them, I had a few people buy off me that had been dealing with them, and look at the distance between the dealerships.

114 miles & 2hrs 15mins away from me! It would be as easy for me to go back to Powerstation as go there. Need to be close-ish to home as our baby is due soon!

Had service there last week with no problems cost £250 for 75 month service without spark plug change.
