Is the steering wheel meant to lock in to position when the key is removed like my previous cars?? because i cant seem to get mine to lock i've tried turning the wheel but it just keeps turning checked my manual but says nothing

Yes, steering lock it is called.

Mine works, you can turn the wheel about an eighth to a quarter of a turn before it clicks in.

Yeah soon as i wrote this i went out gave it another go and kept turning and sods law it locked, my golf was just a slight turn and it locked this takes nearly half a turn didnt try it that far before cause of the tyres. thanks again
