hi all, when i start my car sometimes it makes a horrible noise its the same noise you get from trying to start and engine when its already running its obviously not running when im doin it but does anyone know what this is? cheers

Common, no idea the cause, various claims of starter motor/solenoid proved wrong.

Doesn't damage anything so don't worry, but I know it sounds gash as hell.

Mine does that only when it's cold and I start it up for the first time in the morning. I found that if you only let it turn over once and immediately let go of the key, it seems to minimize this problem.

Sounds like your starter motor is sticking buddy.

Does it very rare when cold. As long as it's rare nothing to worry about.

mine does it all the time ever since i changed my clutch and flywheel, due to over spray of brake cleaner. the brake cleaner has removed/dried the grease from the starter. need to remove it to give it an oil or grease up.
