Time to say goodbye

Well after approx 5 years of ownership and enjoying every minute of it    it looks like I'm going to sell up (well probably to breakers).

After recently taking the car for a 50k service it seems I've jumped teeth on the drivechain and therefore requires approx £1k of engine work :(
That in turn with the key mark down the drivers side and the rust on the passenger rear wheel arch I need a full respray at £1k.

Thus giving a bill of £2k on a car worth less than £5k so if I get £2.5k I will be happy.

My modifications will be up on the for sale section soon but I intend to keep using this site even if the next car isn't a Honda (looking at EVO x's at moment)

Wow that suck donkey balls. McGuiness's will probably rip you off.

Good luck on the Evo front though.

Must admit prefer the mods to go to good use

Just hope I don't buy a wreak this time and take better care of it

Yeah they would so gonna try specialist places first

if you break the car yourself i would be interested in a couple of small parts. drivers side-repeater and driver lower cover.

Hoydonk. Any idea on how the timing chain jumped about on its teeth? Lost its tension or something more serious?

Was wondering the same thing, that's some serious sh#1t we could all do with avoiding.

TDI north say the tensioner is broken and he has only ever seen the jumping on stolen cars  therefore very high rev's

The cars drives OK, still VTEC's but is down on power 218 BHP

After driving round for about 3 weeks in the CTR and trying to decide what to do

I've decided to take the engine out myself and replace the chain and tensioner myself, should only cost about £300 in parts and alot of hard graft/stress.

After looking for a "How too" found the following regarding the tensioner and new design replacement.

No idea about how hard this would be this would but good luck with it! Dues for sticking in there!! :smt023

good luck bud, hope it works out. if not 5 years is a good batting and hopefully you can get a fair value on your parts when breaking, the engine alone should see you 1k plus.

Well after a weekend trying to install a new timing chain and tensioner (toda) I couldn't remove the crank pulley  therefore off to Honda and a £500 quid bill plus the transport cost.

Anyway hopefully by the end of the week it should be back to normal and VTEC'ing again.

Also when attempting the above came across this in the splash guard :(
Think it needs a VTEC just kicked in !!!
