EP3 Transmission case cracked at drain bolt. HELP! :(

I was changing out my transmission fluid and the housing has cracked around the drain bolt.

Anyone know of anywhere I can pick up a second hand case?

Or any other suggestions....

If you split the box you could get that wielded up and helicoiled looking at it, I've had cases welded on race bikes a few times

Thanks mate. Seems there is a few cases going around that are pretty cheap so think I will try and get a replacement.

I dropped Stevie at Grinspeed an email last night. Hopefully hear back from him today.

In order to avoid a tow, what's your thoughts on patching it with Quiksteel so I can get some MTF in it for a short drive to the garage?

Probably mess up the case but if its getting replaced anyway I don't think that would matter too much?

Personally I wouldn't risk it but that's just me. The cost of a tow is not very high compared to the associated costs of your box giving up on the road.

Over tightening the drain bolt causes the issue. It really doesn't have to be that tight. It's not like the gearbox is pressurised. Tightening spec is probably only around 20-30nm.
 
Just as an update...

I managed to get a replacement gearbox from Integrastella. Worked out cheaper than getting a rebuild in a new case.

Would recommend Integrastella if anyone is looking for something similar. Good contact and quick shipping.

Just got the car back today after the transmission swap and new clutch and all going well so far! :)
