Trying to identify engine spec

Hi, I am trying to identify an engine I have in a DC2 integra which i'm currently turning into a race car. I know its not the original and would like to know what spec it is. This is not an easy task without stripping it down. The code is B18C 2001073. Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Mark

Hmm I am pretty sure the B18C is the JDM 1.8 vtec you would find in an Integra DC2 (Found in the Type-R and SiR and). So probably nothing you do not know I'm afraid.

Thinking, 2001 was the last year before the DC5 came out was it not Nick? They still made a few DC2's early that year I think, if so could the engine be from a late model? Guessing here of course :D

All the JDM DC2's ran B18C without a number, but that could be a B18C2 which was effectively a GSR spec engine I think?

B18C2... Hmmm. Like Hasnic says, it's obviously not the JDM engine as they don't bother to suffix.

I think this may be a strange case of an Ozzy B18C2 engine. Being the GSR spec engine, should put you aroung the 165-170hp mark IIRC. I've not really heard of the C2 engine before, I know the Ozzies got a C7 spec too which again is a rarity over here.

I'm assuming this is an imported motor? Hopefully has some Australian history to it if I'm to be half right.

Having the '2' suffix, I'm pretty sure it's not a Type R spec engine in any case, as this would either be the B18C (JDM), C3 (USDM >98 ) or C5&C6 (Worldwide 98-01).

Sorry this isn't much help. If you can calculate your CR that may help (but it's a cylinder head off task and lots of measuring) you identify it. A CR of around 10:1 will put you squarely in the GSR engine zone, while from memory an 11:1 CR will have you looking at Type R territory.

:?

I think the C2 also has variable length intake runners on the intake manifold which can also be a tell tale sign?

That was why I was wondering, as I did not think they made a C2?? The first suffix was C1 then went to C3....

...hey, we really now how to party :D

There was a C2 in Australia and possibly some other regions but it's a very rare engine from what I can find out., tell you what, we're almost as interesting as Muxy and his Wiper blade conversational skills
