What tools are you using

I have been using halfords advanced tools and they seem good quality someone said to me they are the same as draper tools. What do you guys use.

Mixture of Halfords Professional/Advanced, Clarke, Laser and RS Components for general stuff. Have loads of task specific stuff from all over the place though.

Teng Tools as that's what I took out of my toolbox when I came off the shop floor and Halfrauds professional

A socket set of hand me downs from my dad that must be as old as me and a £5 socket set from a cheap shop as it has a small ratchet but needs a size adaptor for everything that came in the set... Stanley screwdrivers, pliers, needle nose and snips. Cheap B&Q adjustable spanner. Wickes cheap and nasty piff poor cordless drill that's needed replacing since the day I got it but that I've had for 10 years.

I've got a Teng socket set, torque wrench and drivers for doing bits on the mountain bike and car. Then an assortment of tools for jobs around the house.

I'm using Crescent tools (US) very good quality and cheaper than most decent brands. Got them from Costco. Halfords Professional range are pretty good, a lot of Snap-On tools are rebranded ones but are generally pretty good. If you are looking for a near-complete set of tools for working on a car, I would highly recommend the Crescent tool set. It doesn't have any fancy ratchet spanners like halfords, but the quality of all the tools is top notch.

I have a selection of pilfered shop use tools from back in the day when I ran a parts shop, I have three half inch rachets for some reason? guess you can't have too many. Other than my old man owns a garage and only has Snap-on and Mac, boy he has £1k's and £1k's of tools!

+1 for the crescent tools recommendation. Got a massive set for about £50 from Costco, all works well and is more than I'll ever need. Although my dad got laid off recently so there's 3 massive wheely tool boxes in their conservatory full of snap on gear. Wouldn't even know what to do with most of it though.

i've got this crescent toolkit

it seems we all do. i bought it for about £30 7 or 8 years ago from costco. its a great bit of kit and after years of use the only problem i have is the plastic box it comes in the clasps have snapped so it doesn't stay shut. the tools themselves have been excellent.

Thats what I've got, I dumped the plastic mould box for the same reasons and have it all in a cantilever steel tool box, german porn film washing machine repairman style.

it seems a strongly worded letter to crescent tools is in order. we could lambast them on the quality of their plastic cases and demand a replacement. perhaps a sales of goods act 1979 amended in there for good measure.

dear sir.

infact i think maybe get rodan to make a complaint website and they can send clarence beaks to meet us in the orange section of the car park with the crop reports and a cheque for £1000.

Stahlwille or SnapOn only. Mitatoyo for measuring equipment. I do use some SnapOn bluepoint for things like pliers and screwdrivers, punches etc... Spanners, sockets and wrenches have to be top draw though, cheap tatt can never handle a big dirty extension.

1/2" drive FTW.

Any mention of trading places makes me LOL. Hard. many thanks.

In the RAF we used snap on ratchet handles and they were s**t, broke all the time. Wierdly, the cheaper stuff seemed to last.
