Which one to buy?

Your EP was a very nice one. And I am sure you would like another, but as they guys have said an FN2 would be fresh at least and new to you. Have 98% of the fun factor but that extra comfort that I am sure would be appreciated.

If you do go for an EP, I do have a decent exhaust and some cool BC rims sitting doing nowt ;) :D

Thanks G but i promised the wife if i buy another EP3 i wouldn't go overboard on mods ie no rims and no carbon:eek: :D

An EP3 or DC5 wouldn't depreciate as much as the FN2.
What makes you say that about the EP3? I though they were more or less at rock bottom now TBH.

What is the forecast depreciation of an FN2 out of curiosity?

I meant that the EP3 has already lost most of its value, and it wouldn't loose as much as a FN2 would over say, 2 years.

I do love the new JDM CTR, however an extra £3k and I am betting the insurance would be hefty, even for men of our advanced years mark :D. You would REALLY hav to want one. i do not know anyone who has bought an FN2 who is not happy with it. On balance it is a great allrounder. If as Jason has said you may be after a true drivers car, then the choice would be a DC2 in that case surely :D

Yes the DC2 is a great drivers car but it is getting on now and i dont think Marks ageing bones can cope with that (joke!!) ;)

The DC5 is a happy medium IMO, Its reasonably comfortable as a daily driver but when you want to 'drive' it the capability is most certainly there. I certainly feel more comfortable throwing the DC5 in to bends than I did with the EP3, There is more feedback from the steering wheel and of course there is that LSD as well :D

It depends what you want from the car Mark at the end of the day.

The EP3 will be second hand and therefore will drop the value significantly and you will find that in the two years you have it you will lose (I reckon) at least £4k on resale.

I would go with the FN2 idea, No one has thought yet about how easy parts are to come by with the FD2, I predict that until there is a bigger market for them (like the DC5) now then parts are going to be hard to come by.

I would suggest (again) that if you are in the postion to buy then I would get the FN2. Warranty and piece of mind :smt023

(Thats coming from someone who hasn't even driven one yet!!)

I think you would be pleasantly surprised on the insurance front. Go with a specialist like A-Plan or Keith Michael Insurance. There are guys on SNet who have had cheaper quotes for JDM Scoobs over a UK model.

If you are only going to keep the car for 2 years, it seems to make sense to buy an EP3, buying an FN2 would cost you much more when you come to sell it on.

Thanks guys.

Was a difficult choice tbh but all the recent horror stories about paintwork etc on the FN2 put me off a bit.I will keep this car for 2 years then probably go for an FN2 when all the niggles have been sorted out.

The EP3 looked mint, owned by a Japanese manager from Honda,Swindon by the looks of it with only 6000 miles on the clock so i'm a happy bunny.

I think you made the right decision, Mark, and you will lose less when you change cars in two years. I lost quite a bit when trading in my latest CTR  but the S2000 is definitely worth it.:D
