Would you put a 130,000 mile car on a dyno?!

If the engine's healthy then its all good! but i have been advised when a engine has done 100,000 miles, it should get a rebuild???

What a load of tosh?

Who told You that?

Why should you rebuild an engine unless it's had a failure?

Just 'cos it's passed a milestone in mileage.

If it ain't broke.....

There was a lad from Southport, who's name I always forget, he has a ATR thats done over 200k on track. I think it had lost 2bhp.

Where are you doing your Dyno?

Barry.
From over my way.

Well Over 200k now, last 20k has all been track!

Mine was recently mapped by MASE at SRR. It has 147K on the clock and still made 213.1WHP

If your car has been looked after then mileage is not an issue imo.;)

Just popping over to Awesome GTi (VAG specialists) does anyone have any experience of their dyno?

Actually, old (90's) vauxhall xe engines make more power than standard quoted figures nowadays.

Try telling me that they are rubbish....

Up until last year, they were STILL being used in the BTCC.

Honda engines lose power like any other. Most engines tend to be 'tight' out of the box and will actually gain power over the first 10-20k miles, from thereon in they WILL lose power over time. The rate of which is determined by how the engine is treated (ie is it at 8k all the time or 3k) and how well it is looked after from a servicing point of view.

The seal of the piston rings to the cylinder bore will deteriorate over time - lowering compression and the cylinder head and piston crowns will coke up, producing a less efficient burn & gas flow.

Put my dc2 on the dyno 2 years ago didn't think bout the millage. it made 210 bhp at tdi north Puttin it back on this year after I have now put few other mods on
