Wrx Sti hatchback!!!

I'm aware that the running costs are of similar to that of the evo, however the evo does require more service intervals than the impreza ie. 6 monthly.
Iv also done vast research on the 2.5 boxer engine and the issues applied to models 2004-2009, the pistons are of **** poor quality but it's the actual ringlands that are the weak component of the pistons cracking and breaking away.
The car will be only used as a family/weekend fun car.
at the end of the day it does not matter what car you buy they all require maintaining and have there own individual flaws
im happy with my buy and can't wait to pick her up tomorrow at 9am.

I'm a subaru head so please don't think I'm putting your purchase down. The issues with the 2.5 wouldn't put me off buying one but I wouldn't trust one without the work done.

I know of one that had 2 engines replaced under warranty due to failure. One at 18k miles and another at 40k miles. Used as a family wagon/weekend car. FSH with subaru which is why they replaced them. 2nd replacement engine failed aswell so owner got Ali Burrows to build him an engine to avoid the piston/ringland/head gasket etc issues. Near 150k on that engine now and no issues.

It's honestly a matter of when, not if. Granted there are some that will never fail but I personally wouldn't take the chance and any subaru specialist engine builder will tell you put money aside for when it fails or get the work done when you buy it.

If you put the money aside and it hasn't failed after 12-18 months of owning then use the money elsewhere. The last thing I'd want is to see an engine failure that a new owner hadn't budgeted for and now has to try move on a car that the value has fallen out of.

Filled the old tart up on vpower this morning done 80miles and it's sitting on 3/4. My average mpg was 25.1.
Driving sensable on intelligent mode.
overall I'm in utter love with this car puts a massive smile on my face just looking at it.
timing belt and new turbo was done at 49k.
there will be funds at the ready when it does give up the ghost. But I'm not going to sit there and have a panic attack. I'd rather enjoy it for what it is right now.

That's the right attitude. Drive it on and enjoy it. If it's gonna go it'll go so no point babying it and being paranoid because you'll get nothing out of it. Well wear.

25.1 mpg, I struggle to get that in the ep!

Always between 21 and 24, wonder what I'll get when I get a scoob..lol

Enjoy it!

My satin facelift :)

You an imposter at a Ford meet?? Sierra behind, Fiesta next to you, Anglia back left.

I do like your subaru. I think they look better than the old saloon versions. But still the running costs would scare me off ever owning one.

Noooo!!! I lived a 5 minute drive away from Santa pod this I believe to be a rwyb day. Second synchro went on this day after a few runs nothing more embarrassing than grinding 2nd gear with spectators lol.
