FD2 or CL7.....Which one?

Its a huge PITA dealing with a baby travel system and a 3 door car IMO

Its no bother, I used to do it with a Proton GTi, the DC5 was a step up and a massive boot. Loads of room.

OP - Get an Evo 9. Best option out of all of them, or an 8 MR if you want cheaper tax. I know you've ruled it out due to turbo but I've owned 3 Evo's and only the X was a pain. The two 8's ran fine.

My Evo IX cost me over £2000 in repairs in 12 months. Cylinder head rebuild and AYC pump going.

Saying that, the roof on my S2000 has seen better days, and they're not cheap to replace. Plus if my suspension bolts are seized then that will cost.

Swings and roundabouts mate.

The ATR has cost me £1400 so far.
Take the rough with the smooth. If I had another Evo it would be the 9GT.
No AYC, plus I think modding Evos too much causes problems.

The other thing that puts me off the Evo Wagon is the service intervals and costs. Don't get me wrong to start with the Evo was the winner in the quest for my next car but after reading further into it I was put off a bit, plus insurance wise it's alot more costly. Plus I love the sound of a screaming VTEC! :p

It's just trying to find one of these cars close enough to me to look at and test without seeming like a tyre kicker as at this precise moment I can't buy one, I'm just waiting for a business venture to start up which should release a far bit of cash my way in the near future.

If you find a good garage, servicing an Evo isn't a problem.
M.G Autos in Derbyshire were very reasonable for a specialist. So reasonable that servicing was the same as other cars I've owned.
Insurance is a killer though and that's why I'm not driving a 9GT now.

I did have a quick look online before for insurance for the Evo and I was being quoted nearly £1500 a year for an annual payment and I know it's a completely different car to my trusty Mondeo estate but I just can't justify spending between £10000 to £15000 on a car and then an extra £1100 extra on insurance and double the tax each year as well.

On the CL7 upgrade whys, what would a new intake and exhaust systems along with Hondata give me? I've also read that the Euro R's are quite under braked? Is there a simple way to get round or improve this?

I ran an Evo 9 as a daily for around 6 months I think, 400 miles a week. Never again to be honest.

I think the most sensible choice would be the Euro R for me and the more I look at it the more the car grows on me, it's a very understated street sleeper that I'm guessing will surprise a few owners of upmarket european saloon cars.

Just want to know what the best why of unlocking more power from the K20 would the best and most cost effective while not going completely over the top.

There's no real cost effective way of modding a K20.
Everything is £500+

Just start with the usual exhaust, air filter, manifold etc and once you have those done get it chipped.
Although I don't know personally which chip is the one you need.

Someone with more know how will tell you best.

As I posted earlier, I think its the DC5 engine so treat it as such.

Brakes wise, DC5 Brembos with S2K discs like the FN2?

Wasn't just the fuel, it was the servicing and the fact it's not a great commuting car.

I found it quite comfy and a great drive, plus servicing was ok. £240 for the 12 month and £100 every 6th month.
Thats ok in my eyes.
Major service was I think £400 but I'm not certain on that.

If you paid more than that you were robbed.

It's not the cost, it's the hassle of either having to take a day off work or wasting most of a Saturday to get to a trustworthy garage. And most garages don't have many open slots on Saturdays for servicing.

It's not a bad car, but after using the Focus for a year, the Audi for a bit and now the Accord, I just couldn't commute that distance in one again.

Then there's the fact that I started driving it like a cnut, doing 7+ car overtakes etc.

Oh yeah the easy ban thing. Yeah it's not very good at helping you keep your license.

I had a Sam to take the car in so I never lost time at work.

I don't think the Evo comes into the equation any more because of the above reasons. Also now my commute everyday might have just come down to 2 maybe 3 miles a day at a push so the FD2 comes racing back into the mix as it would now be mainly a weekend toy!!! :D and to be honest, even though the Euro R's looks are growing on me when ever I compare the two I just can't get a way from the fact the FD2 is better looking.

LOL @ £15k, so many other cars out there that I'd rather have that would have more toys with cheaper tuning potential should I want to make it faster.
