    I'd suspect the primary cause of the issue is excessive play in the engine mounts, causing more movement through the manifold and exhaust system. EP3's seem to suffer from it fairly regularly. Powerflex engine mount inserts are a simple solution for this, but do cause more noise and vibrations...
