Hey just bought a second hand one for 65 pound for ep3 type r fitted it to day and must say the noise of it is not that loud in vtec had a cheap universal filter on it and that was louder but the aem certainly makes the car go better as ther is no heat sook of it any ideas what the loudest would be or is it because the aem one is down in the arch you can't hear it as much
 
A short ram will be louder. I'm guessing due to the filter being closer to the throttle body.

For gains stick with your CAI. If you just want induction noise put your short ram back on.
 
Pound for pound, the AEM CAI is the best intake you can get for performance gains. It makes similar power to the Gruppe M but at a fraction of the cost. It is quieter as the filter is further away from the cabin, but not at the cost of heat soak. The V2 or short ram ones, suffer badly in slower driving from heat soak, thus dropping power slightly.
