CTR - 150k miles now - 12 years old - one owner

well i have been pleased with my ctr had it from new and just over 150k miles still going strong.

i think a few things need looking at -

suspension creaking abit and knocking in the fronts - anyone know what this is and how much are honda springs and shocks ?

screeching sound when i start the car in the cold and i think the belt needs replacing even thou they look ok ?
 
I have a brand new front shock for sale, I bought the wrong side in error, spotted it before everything came apart fortunately :lol:
 
Nice. I bought mine in April 2009 and now it has done almost the same mileage (148000) - suspension is also creaking. Getting lower wishbone bushes replaced soon. A kit is about £70 from 8Speed. Think the top mounts or something in that area is making a noise but they were new in May... will be dropping the shocks out when the wishbones are off to have a look.

Otherwise, it still pulls like a train and never misses a beat. Love my little EP3. Going to France again in it this year.

Not sure weather to go all out and spend loads on it or to get another one as a replacement. Kind of torn between the 2 ideas.

the creaking must be the wishbone bushes ? mines been knocking for awhile :) yea test driven a few cars but none as nice as CTR. tried an A8 but that had 2 sec turbo lag - diesel !!

I'd like to think so. The creaking is definitely coming from the top part of the assembly around the inner wings. You can hear it loud and clear in the car driving along... any ideas? I did post a thread on here but there was no replies...

Yep, still got the grey CTR & doing trackdays both here and in Europe.
Going strong still dispite the abuse it takes from me daily !
Must meet up for a coffee sometime.

i am having it looked at today, will let you know if it is the bushes.

kwit fit checked it and they say the top mounts quoted me £100 for the pair fitted, brand SZR [ oem ]

how much are they from honda fitted ? and what other companies do them ? was thinking like elite in rainham or somewhere in suffolk tyre places who do these.

is there an upgrade like to polyurethane ones ? do i need to get wheel alignment done after ? thanks
 
My Top mounts are KYB - a reasonably good brand of suspension. I've used their shocks in the past and they've always been decent. The top mounts were new in May however so I would have expected them to last longer.

£100 fitted doesn't sound too bad. As it isn't a specialist job (like checking valve clearances or mapping) I would just phone some local garages for quotes personally. Maybe even source the parts yourself. I guess KYB are not worth buying then??? - if mine are causing my creakiness after 7 months. (haven't done many miles and don't use bumpy roads....)

had the top mounts done and the knocking sounds has stopped. as to if they last as long as the honda parts i wont know but should last a few years :)
