Type-R with Sportex Midpipe

Hello folks,

After a few days grinding pressure fitted high strength steel bolts out of the cat side of the mounting flange, me and a friend attached the Sportex un-silenced Midpipe to this completely stock car.

Here are two videos of the result:-

Hope this helps a few people find the desired exhaust note for their Type-R.

None taken! Each to their own, not bad for a £60 mid pipe.
I'm sure your custom made exhaust was a tad more expensive!
Not the best quality microphone either!

It's meant to stop the engine block moving as much as on the standard mounts. It's only really of any benefit if the car is highly tuned (not mine then) to reduce strain and stresses on the exhaust manifold etc. It does have another benefit in that aggressive gear shifting becomes more positive and it reduces wheel hop under damp conditions! ;) Which helps save drivesafts/clutch/engine mounts etc etc

I know you posted this years ago. i have been thinking of getting one of these damper but i am fitting es mounts to my car so will it be worth still getting the damper? cheers
 
Not really if you are fitting ES mount inserts. It's either/or.

That's the theory but I'd still fit inserts to be honest. A cracked manifold isn't something you want to be finding after a few weeks/months.

I think it's the old age bud :-)) lol. Motor runs sweet as ever, very quiet while cruising around but deadly at full throttle!
