FL5 Fuel gauge

Messages

I have just purchased aFL5 type r with 2,500 miles on it and am very happy with it
Just wondering if anyone can answer this question for me
The owners manual stats that this car has a 47 litre fuel tank
The distance to empty was down a 15 miles and the fuel light was on
I then filled it up but only managed to get 36 litres in , so to me I assume there is a problem
Can anyone with a FL5 confirm they can get more fuel in please?
I would have thought with the level that low I should have got a least 42 litres in if not more

I have the same issue too. I picked up my FL5 from dealer last week and have been unable to get much more than 30 litres in the tank.

Has anyone got to the bottom of this ?

Can I ask please what was your gauge reading when you filled it up please
In hand book and online it says fuel tank capacity is 47 litres and I spoke to local Honda dealer and they said I quote handbook should be correct.
Mine is booked in on 16th to be checked but they have told me if it’s normal then I will be charged!!!
I can’t work out that if the low fuel light is on so estimate 4-5 litres left and I refuel with 36 litres that doesn’t make 47 litres so there must be a problem or the fuel tank is 40 litres?!

31 litres was around 345 / 350 miles Haven't got anywhere near that maybe 250 ish. I believe it's showing I'm getting round 23.4 mpg .

I as waiting for the car to bed in fully and address the issue with the dealer.

Good luck! and Please let me know how you get on.

Just to confirm Honda UK have confirmed to me that it has a 47 litre fuel tank so from that there must be a problem

Definitely seems to be a problem, we're not the only people having this issue. No one seems to have the answer yet.

Please let me know how you get on at the dealer.
I will say other than this annoying issue the car is perfect.

Filled up this morning.

I kept going past the clicks and it appears to be full full! But now only a range of 274 not 350.

Thanks for this information
My car is booked in on 17th so I will relay all this information
If you refill your car again can you let me know

Yes, I will keep you updated. With out a doubt I will need to refill this time next week.

I will also use our shared experience and another info i can find in the meantime.

I also have the same issue; I have a 2025 FL5 and at most it allows me 10gals. I drove it until the remining gas milage showed 18 miles to empty, and it topped off at 10.1 gallons. I am also having an issue with the fuel gauge meter, it has been showing almost full for the last 3 days but the gas milage range is at 150 miles to empty, has this happened to you?

Not has that problem yet
I assume you are in America?
Is the 10.1 us gallons? If it is that’s 38 litres so it appears we all have the same problem!,,
Can you look in your hand book please and find the fuel tank capacity please and take a picture please

When you both fill your cars up again can you take photos of dash showing gauge and distance to empty
Photo of fuel pump showing how many litres put in
Final photo of dash again showing gauge full please

Damn, I just filled up a few hours ago. I’ll take a picture now and when I fill up again in a week or so

In the handbook it says under fuel gauge
You should refuel when the reading approaches 0
Running out of fuel can cause the engine to misfire, damaging the catalytic converter.
The actual amount of fuel remaining may differ from the fuel gauge.
This seems very strange to me!!!??

In handbook under LOW FUEL Indicator it says
Comes on when the fuel reserve is running low
Approximately 7.0 litres or 1.54 imp gallons left
So if you go by both these statements if you refuel with the light on and DTE as close to 0
You should get approximately 40 litres in when I only managed at max 37 litres so there must be a problem
Give me your thoughts please
