FL5 Fuel gauge

in the other forums i follow there are people who have the same issue as well, i think, if the tank is 12.4gal/47liters then they must have done something that it won't allow you to add that much fuel or the tank is actually closer to 11gal/41.5liters. 2gals/7.5liters a big and noticeable amount to be missing i just think its strange that the owners hand book and everywhere online the tank size shows 12.4/47 when multiple people have stated that they cant fill up the tank to that max.

I think it’s not that you can’t fill to max it is more likely that when we all think to tank is low it isn’t and there is more fuel left in it.
Most of us are getting around 37 litres into the tank so we can only assume with low light on there is 10 litres left in the tank which I my thinking is not right as low light should have around 5 litres or as hand book says 7 litres so I think the sender in the tank is not set up correctly.
Anyone else agree???

My car is showing 15 miles DTE , I am going to run the DTE down to Zero then record the mileage and then keep going and see if I can get another 30 miles as to me that would be around 5 litres used.
Also I’m carrying a 5 litre can of fuel so if it does stop I’ll just fill it up then go to a petrol station.
I just want all the evidence for next week when mine is booked in at Honda Dealer.

yes this was also a thought, it shows us that its empty when it really was roughly 2gals/7 liters left in it. i know my buddy that has a 2021 si, said he ran it about 15miles after his DTE showed 0 miles and he was able to fill up his tank roughly 11.5 gals/43.5 liters.

Morning Andy,

Its that time of week again.... I've filled up this morning and the range has now dropped again to 245! I've managed 168 miles off the last tank ! So around 21mpg and that's fairly steady driving.20241212_094826.jpg20241212_095202.jpg20241212_095235.jpg

That will probably be roughly another 4-5 litres so I don’t think the low level on tank sender unit is set correctly.
I am getting all of this information ready for my visit to dealer on Tuesday so hopefully they will have a answer.

Thank you for the update. Please let me know how far you get and the out come on the 17th.
I returned to my honda dealer and they're keen to wait for your result before moving forward with mine.

Dropped car off on Monday, they looked at it today, rung me this afternoon to say can they keep car till tomorrow as Honda are coming to look at it as I can only assume they don’t know how to fix it !!!

Is the car at a Honda main dealer? Have they gave you any feedback at all?

I'm still have the same issue and I've refilled again . Drove 5 miles + past 0 and managed to get in a few more litres in but the rang has dropped even more !

Just to let you all know I have been contacted today and they have told me this is normal!!
Honda are being conservative with there reserve tank being 10 litres!!!
I have work in the motor industry for 35 years and find this absolutely ridiculous.
I am taking this further with customer services because with all the evidence I had something should have been done as car is not correct ( fuel gauge).

Might be too late but this was this morning, I drove it this close to empty and still only got 10.4 gallons when, according to the fuel gauge and owners manual, I should have been able to add at least another gallon and a halfIMG_6424.jpegIMG_6425.jpeg

Just to give you a update, Honda Customer service’s are not really helping as they want me to get a second opinion which could cost me to do so so I am planning on looking at car myself and if I fix the fault I will let you all know.
Not happy with having to do this but need to do something as it doesn’t look like Honda will help as they see this as NORMAL.

Have to take it to another Honda Dealership to get there opinion but I am sure they will do the same.
I believe the fuel sender needs removing and checking the height?
I now have the instructions on how to do this so at some point I will do it myself.
If I find that it is incorrect I will let you know.

No I haven’t taken it to another Honda dealership as I fear they might charge me.
I am going to at some point remove fuel sender unit myself and check it
On my last tank full I ran DTE down to zero then did a further 40 miles then refuelled and got 45 litres in so not much left in tank!,

Ok please let me know how you get on.

Thats not far off. When you refuelled 45 litres what was the DTE / Range?
