FK8 General FK8 (10th Gen) CTR Release chat

I know the article was posted a few pages back, but don't think this was:

That's what I thought. This vid doesn't show how good the Exige really is in the right hands.

Agreed the exige is a weapons grade track car. Ive seen them spanking some serious machinery out on track The honda is a hot hatch and built to be a good all rounder. With two decent drivers the exige would be gone !

That's because Racecar!! :D You feel more in tune with the car when you have to go home and fix it.

I know that fixing a Lotus is far easier than fixing a road car also. They are so basic its untrue.

Most lotus’ I’ve seen at a track go home on a low loader.

I attended over 100+ trackdays and only once went home on a low loader which was a knackered drive shaft, I did manage to destroy an engine when I was racing one though, climbed 17 places in front of a huge crowd at Brands DTM weekend and got it over the line in a cloud of smoke

If used a lot on track they are prone to potential breakdowns and once they are over three years constantly need maintaining but as a road car I used one for commuting and trackdays for 4 years not one issue, lots of trackdays.

The other feature is they are cheap to maintain and consumables last a long time, on track 45 minutes is fine. There is little to compare butween a Lotus Elise/Exige and a family hot hatch, both are brilliant at what they do but in general on track the Lotus is much better and on road a better presence and the handling is sublime.

Lap times don’t really bother me.

I wanted a rear wheel drive car with awesome handling and raw driving style. The Lotus has all of that.

If I wanted refinement I would have bought a Cayman.

I can’t see the FK on that list in the time you said? Is that an official logged time on the Ring?

Undoubtedly the FK8 is flipping fast, but trackwork is not about one lap and or specifically one circuit, after 3 laps both cars would need refuelling I think, then th next 3 laps I bet the Exige would turn in similar Laptimes where as the FK8 will drop off, brake fade, tyres overheating, engine overheating may be!

Ring times are pretty pointless , some manufactures throw everything at a hot lap (car is expendable , even more so on cheap cars like the hondas, use the very best drivers and as much under hand cheating as possible too) others just are not bothered. Ive seen exiges spanking pretty much everything from hot hatches , well modified track focused cars right up to super cars at many a track day ive attended in the last 10 years. You simply cant compare a hot hatch to one. The 2004/2005 240r for example cracks 0-60 in 3.9 seconds and 0-100 mph of 9.9 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph and weighs 900kg. No way a fk8 could live with that, the fk8 is a huge and heavy compared to the exige. As i said ive seen them utterly destroy everything , they run through the pack like others cars are on the school run. The moden exiges are even better too.

Nice little vid this. The guy in the S2000 is pretty handy, I’ve been following his posts for a while.
