Headunit Installation help

Messages

Hey, been spending this morning trying to fit my new headunit (ida x305). Got the panel off around the gear stick, but the 2 screws that are 90 degrees that need to be loosened, aren’t loosening!
I’m using a standard screw driver (that fitted perfectly) to try and loosen them but they are not moving with using all my strength (I’m going in from the glove box to try and turn the left one)
In doing so, I have now threaded the screw and can no longer turn it!
I’m starting to panic now as I feel I may have stuffed it up and can’t fit the head unit any more L

Can anyone help and advise another way to loosen these screws (or at least the left one? will a socket spanner work?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

ok thanks guys, got it out. Now have a different question, I can't seem to see how i've to connect it back up :s
Ive connected the cable that comes with the head unit into the main slot in the back (of the headunit), then the iso adapter into the two cable sockets, and i would assume the final connector from the iso adapter would connect into the car (blue) connector, but these are different sizes :s

Am I doing something completely wrong?

Just popped to halfords and looked at the adapter and I was sent the wrong one :(
but a quick purchase at halfords and all is good :) will fit the rest now

Thanks for the help

argh!! yet another problem, Just wired it all to the car and now when i start my engine, nothing! the headunit doesnt come on, tried pressing all the buttons and nothing :( I even put back the old one and that turns on fine!

Anyone know why its not working? im not yet accepting that the unit is broken, as at that price, i cant believe each one is not tested fully!

I'll be glad when this finally works! taken me most of today to do this!

Check all individual connection's on HU,ISO & the car plug. Also they should be a fuse at the back of your HU check that is ok.

LOL, snap!!!

I bought the same adaptor from the same seller last week and he sent me the wrong one too!

I was there for a few minutes trying to find the trick of fitting that white connector.

Had to go out and spend 4 x the amount from a local shop too, as obviously when you've gone to the trouble of getting the head unit out, you're a bit stuck when the connector doesnt fit.

Sorry for the delayed reply, but yes, in my panic of nearly busting the screws, I completely missed the individual connections
Its all fitted now and looks and sounds sweet :D

@maurice

lol, yeh it was annoying having to fork out 14.99 at halfords when i have bought the first one for 2.50! Kinda felt special when i couldnt connect the two connectors though

But all is well now, thanks for all your help :)

Buy cheap, buy twice. ;)

Is it the correct Iso adaptor? (Honda Accord in Halfords) for the EP3

I went to halfords and bought the ALL MODELS 1999+ adaptor and found out it didnt work. Its annoying how they can just put that on there :(

But yes the Honda Accord adaptor is the right one :)

So I've done exactly the same. Gone and bought an alpine x305 head unit. Got all the dash out etc and now have run into a problem.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2009NEW-ALPIN...S_In_Car_Audio_Players_PP?hash=item58865c62dc

shows the rear of the headunit. The supplied cable fits into the main black power part of the HU but the other end is a fuse and loads of little individual cables. Where does this then go?? I've read about the adaptor

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honda-Civic-T...cles_Terminals_Cabling_ET?hash=item45f184d988

which is the same as in halfords. The white end does the converting coming from the car but then the other end is has 2 black connections. I don't get how this fits into the HU?

Any help would be much appreciated!

is the headunit second hand?
if the harness from the headunit needs the block connectors on the other end so you would plug the adaptor from ebay into them then into the car harness.
you could always splice the alpine harness to the ebay one if you are desperate to get it in or buy one of these
