Help finding a decent clutch kit

Hi im after someone who can help me find a decent bulletproof clutch kit (with all the parts inc) as my clutch has probally been knackered some time by pre owner im guessing the flywheel as well. Its just for rd use and i wont be doing any major tuning but will be doing some, and as i've read the honda clutches dont seem to last long i want something that will take some stick and last me some time. Cheers for any help

The Honda clutch is very good, and there is no point in going elsewhere unless you are running over 300bhp.

Stick with the Honda clutch.

Really i've read people having them replaced only to have problems with them yr down the rd , and as honda have just quoted me £780 just for clutch replacement i thought i would get a decent one for half the price that would last longer than the honda one

yeah with labour but loxy pointed out that hondas fixed price repair scheme have it down for just over 500 fitted so this dealer is charging me way over the odds and its my closest dealer

Where is your location, you are best off going to a specialist for this, TGM supply and fit one for around £400.

A independent garage can fit a clutch for a fraction of the price, I was charged £200 labour.

yeah thats what im thinking even told the dealer i can get it for half that but didnt seem bothered, location is kettering its a family run honda dealer, to be honest i get the impression they dont work on many type rs

Depends if your car is modified. My last type-r got 60-70k miles from an OEM clutch on a standard car. My current Rotrex 320hp + 200lb ft has destroyed an exedy stage 1 in 18k miles.

Clutch fitting should be 5-6 hours, an independent fitted my last one at £30/hour, bought the clutch for £150 + £180 labour so a bargain at £330.

Cheers

Get that quote for the clutch off them in writing.

When they have handed it to you I would query it and point out the Honda fixed price repairs thing to them.

If they are an official Honda dealer they have to do it at that price.

If they refuse dob them in to Honda UK. Nobody wants dodgy Honda dealers.

As said above, if you are not thinking of going for crazy power, i.e. turbo or supercharger kits, the OEM clutch or exedy one (same clutch, different box) is absolutely fine.

Ok cheers for the help it was just what i read about experiences with honda clutches put doubt in my mind, so i'll source my own honda replacement parts and get them fitted at my local side garage to be honest it would be cheaper to do this think cox honda have a clutch for about 130. Do you know if i get everything in a clutch kit (apart from flywheel) i wouldn't need to order anything else

A 'kit' supplies everything needed to fit a clutch.

Clutch housing
Clutch plate
Release bearing
Lining up tool.

Honda clutch is fine but if you do want to upgrade ive been more than happy with the ACT.

Me again i've ordered my clutch from cox honda but im struggling to find the flywheel any ideas

Not sure im just going by what honda were telling me reckon they were just after more money. I popped in there today to pick up my usb cable (which seems to be the wrong one) so i asked them about the honda fixed price for a clutch replacement and they said that price is for the standard 2ltr petrols not the type r's, they said once you put type r in front of parts the price rockets
