Lottie's Stealthy NHB EP3 - Update 09/03/11 - Mugen Rollcage

Nearly a year on and time for another update

As previously mentioned the Nitron suspension was knocking on the last service, I dropped it off last week with Nitron and picked it up on Monday. WOW! what a difference, they have had a full rebuild and the rear shock which was knocking was damaged so has been repaired. Its always been very nervous on the road since having the suspension fitted and after a chat with them when dropping it off they said they would see what they could do. As my kit was one of the very first (it was a kind of test mule) as you can imagine there have been improvements in their subsequent kits. The main issue with mine was the bump steer, this has now been resolved and it gives you so much more confidence on the road. The harsh ride has also been resolved so cats eyes can be driven over without my teeth falling out :) I cant thank them enough either as they did all the work FOC! you wouldn't get that from many manufacturers!.

After picking the car up from Nitron I headed straight over to Rich at Performance Autoworks for its annual service and MOT. I have done very limited mileage over the last year (around 4k) so am nowhere near the mileage service schedule, after a discussion and with the likelihood of me now being able to get back out on track, Rich carried out an oil change and gave the car a good going over, checking for loose bolts etc. It also passed the MOT with flying colours and no advisories :)

Something I hadn't really posted about as well was the wheel refurb I had done a few weeks ago, we took the Z4 to be done at The Wheel Specialist at Fareham, I was so happy with the result, I left my car with them to be done as well.

As the car is getting on a bit these days the paint is really starting to show its age with stone chips (and a small bit of rust around the rear drivers side wheel arch), I really need to make my mind up about a repray/blow over. Just need to find the right paint shop to do the work.

Glad to hear you got the suspension sorted at last.
Hopefully see you out on a trackday soon then to test it .

Whats the 2nd dyno graph? Is that before tune  what hp gain were you looking at for i/h/e and tune? Feel a difference?

The second graph is the wheel hp. I wasn't really chasing numbers just wanted a more responsive car and Romain certainly provided that. The map was done some years ago and I've covered lots of miles since then with no issues.

I think the nicest comment ive had was when we went to another rolling road day and the person who was running the cars said that it pulled very well.

Nice update Lottie. Do you know what Nitron did? Anything to the shims, different spring rates etc?

I have to say on the road although (expectedly) stiff, mine are very stable. But then I did get mine after you test mules had been running them :)

Not 100% sure im afraid. It feels like a different car now though and is a pleasure to drive again.

Must be the second or third time I've read it and I still enjoy it. Great car.

Thank :)

It's been almost 6 years since the last comment on this thread, I found it while looking for a fitment guide on tegiwa brake stoppers. Awesome read, I was amazed by all the mods and things done to the car. I see, that Lottie's last visit on the forum was in 2014, so she might not see this, but I have to say, this is one of the best EP3s I've ever come across.

Thanks Vitka

I still have the car . Unfortunately trackdays have taken a back seat so the Mugen Rollcage was removed a few months ago and has gone to a good new home.

In my head I should sell her, but my heart won't let me

Yup, I know how that is, I'm also quite emotional, when it comes to the things I drive. I remember, I cried for over an hour, when I sold one of my bikes :D If you can find the time to drive her sometimes, and if she has a nice garage to stay in, I definately recommend keeping her ;) I'd love to read more about your car, and maybe you'd like to join us in the "what did you do to your EP3 today" topic :smt038
