hey everyone,
my boss bought a cheap Type R off a local trader at the start of the week.....one owner from new, 148k miles and i think the owner was called Fido....heres why
Fido was hungry
owner obviously cut Fidos hair in the car and forgot to hoover it up....for the last 10 years!!
YUCK!
hungry again
its everywhere!
hmmm
then i took the seats out....big mistake!!
this thing is in such a state, cant believe how anyone can get in a car like this everyday! the smell was awful too
its even behind the speaker grills in the back
how the hell did it get under the carpet!!
so all the interior came out to be fumigated....managed to get hold of 4 replacement seats, and a new mat set.
unbelieveably the carpet came up really well, after 2 days of hoovering and pressure washing!
interior plastics being washed
all cleaned under the carpet
old steering wheel
replacement
spare wheel refitted and boot cardboard
thats it so far. more updates once i get all the bits im waiting for
cheers for looking guys
all c+c`s welcome
right, time for an update that brings a little smile to my face!
as i said, the carpet took a couple of days of hoovering and pressure washering and this is how it came out
this is still the same carpet!!
and fitted into the car
how much nicer is that!
i said in a my last post that i had a couple of touches down the scrap yard.
touch 1: managed to get a boot carpet to replace the one that wasnt there anymore....on ebay they go for £30-40, from scrappy....£10!
touch 2: have been looking on ebay for a new handbrake cover, the original has lost the chrome off the end and on the button. amazingly there was a Type R at the scrap yard which still had the handbrake in it, and the chrome was in perfect condition...another £10 bargain
before
after
touch 3: said scrappy Type R also still had the seats in it! and they were in pretty good condition. seeing as *** we already have a complete set coming, i decided to remove the back rest cover and foam to replace our eaten one and give us another set of decent seats to re-sell....£20 mega bargain!!
this is what i got
this is how the seat started
during
YUCK underneath
after
and passenger seat cleaned
another part the boss ordered was a replacement front splitter. original looked like he had driven into something low on the corner
so bumper removed....no sign of accident damage luckily!
and on the floor to ready to be attacked
and new one fitted and bumper refitted
ideally the front bumper and splitter could do with a repaint, but hey, it looks better already
also replaced the broken front badge
since i got the carpet down, i put the centre console and handbrake cover back on, all re conditioned and looking lovely
thanks for looking, hopefully some nice updates tomorrow
right guys, after a while of waiting we finally got all the last pieces of the interior puzzle.
so got straight on to fitting/cleaning them to make the car look like a car again!
so first up, just a little one, the dog had had a go at chewing the gear knob, so managed to acquire one cheaply that hadnt been chewed to death!
old
new
next up started to put the rear plastics back in.
so started with this
then progressed to this
and drivers side
and this is the pallet we had been waiting for
which contained all this
so started fitting the rear seats
and the front seats
just to finish the interior off we got hold of some rather nice mats with the type r logo on with red edging
so thats it for the interior, nice and not smelly and shoddy anymore!
gave the quick exterior a wash and polish and here is the finished article
oh nearly forgot, the last piece was a parcel shelf that was destroyed by the dog
and thats it....all done,
cheers for looking everyone!
