My K swapped Yellow DC2 - Selling soon :(

I had a Mugen system on my S2000 and a Fujitsubo on my EP3.

I'm yet to see anything as high quality and build as the Mugen (maybe the FEEL's, but I've not owned one) but the Fujitsubo sounded the best I think, by a touch.

Both made good power.

Yeah the Mugen for the S2k is a bit different, it's not a twin loop backbox which is where the restriction is. Absolutely loved the twin loop but the RM01a sounds pretty good, definitely feels faster up top.

Either way you have a nice choice to make, if you want power, then yes, go with the RM01A.

Cheers :D

Scored some Volk SE37s on Yahoo Japan auctions, so happy, these were the exact wheel I wanted for it. Colour, size width, offset, everything is perfect. They are 16x7 on the front, 16x8 for the back, ET43 all round. Can't wait for them to land

Had a hard week with this car. I took it to PPC in the Park at Mallory and had a track session booked. Firstly my s2000 track wheels wouldn't fit due to gay offset (prob should have checked this) so I had to go out on the white wheels with kumhos, turned out to not be too bad a thing as the car was flying anyway. Some pics before it all went wrong;

It started losing a bit of power, so I pulled into the pits and the engine cut out and turned over real slow, when it finally coughed into life it was knocking :(

I limped it home but it was getting really loud, so to save showering some poor soul with bits of broken engine should it throw a rod I pulled into to a layby about 10 miles from home and went to get the BMW and a tow rope.

Sat around sulking for most of Sunday morning after then cracked on in the afternoon, but with no one around to help I couldn't lift the engine out til Monday night.

Split the engine down and sold the cylinder head (still good) plus a load of stuff from another DC2 I was breaking, picked up the replacement engine on Sunday afternoon. My friend George came round to help me lift it out of the missus' 1 series (lol) but had to dash off. So I built it up as much as I could without stuff that was going to get in the way;

Another mate (Ry) turned up to help me lift it into the car, this was around 2:30pm;

By 6:30pm it was running :) Bumper back on (off due to towing)

Noticed it was leaking coolant, looks like a scumbag stone flicked up while towing with no bummper and holed the rad, joy. Luckily a new swap rad was in stock at work and I fitted that last night, just need to bleed, can't be running a car up with poly engine mounts up at 10pm lol.

Can't wait to drive it again.

Interesting turn of events.

Good lad for just getting it done though :) .

Good thread this with highs and lows.

Cheers :) After new oil/plugs etc but selling the head it worked out to about £500 so not exactly pocket money but a fair bit less than I was expecting. I was going to stick a new chain and tensioner on it but I couldn't be arsed to be honest, I'm just going to do it when I get the bay welded and smoothed in winter.

Took the day off today and went to see Romain at Eurospec for a remap. The map that was on the car this morning was from my DC5 so not ideal at all really but closer than standard. Romain did a power run first thing and it was 216bhp and running pretty lean. After he worked his magic it's now 231bhp peak with a load more throughout the range so I'm really happy. It drove so nice on the way home, really responsive and gaining speed "over 50mph" was very easy compred to the trip down!

A pic of it on the rollers;

I'll get a graph up of the power later on, my phone's died from using the nav :(

Also when I got back I filled up and after a keen drive down and back playing with new found powerrrrr, as well as the tanning on the rollers it still got over 325 miles to the fuel light. Clawing back those pennies spent on the swap!

Good news :) .

Romain got 240bhp (fly) on one of my K20 maps, 180ft/lb torque too !!

Cheers mate :) I think the intake is holding it back a bit, people reckon it closes up under vac and the best way is a custom one, I'll upgrade it one day. Does sound incredible though, was making all sorts of awesome noises on the rollers. Also forgot to post up the graph

While since I've updated this :)

I'll keep it brief. Went to santa pod for Japshow, set pb of 13.3 @ 103 (run 6), snapped driveshaft on run 7, towed it home.

"Fixed it" with a new shaft, test drove, pulled shaft apart again. Found out the rear mount had bent/cracked so fitted new mounts and new custom shafts from standard EP3 shafts (inner cups swapped) and DC2 outter CVs. Works a treat :) Test drove, all good, pulled over and got a pic.

Also new wheels arrived from Japan, they are filthy but really good condition other wise. They are Rays Volk Racing SE37Ks, 16x7 and 16x8 ET42 all round.

The problem is they have 225/50 tyres fitted, these do not agree with the standard DC2 arches :(

So I'm getting the arches rolled at a body shop and fully rust prooved while I'm there. Can't wait to get them fitted, should be all on for JAE
